Margins was by far the hardest part for me to study on in Kaplan's series 7 LEM. I reread, watched the Kaplan videos and struggled no matter what. After watching this video I feel 10 x more confident if I come across margin questions. Thank you Dean!

Yes, but not a margin call. A MAINTENANCE CALL. MAINTENANCE IS 12. OF THE 12 YOU HAVE 5 SO MAINTENANCE IS THE DIFFERENCE 7

Hey Dean, I have my series 7 exam on the 18th of this month in 13 days.. I am getting 60-65% on my practice exams with about a 5-10% understandment of all options.. I know the basics but when it comes to big questions I get confused.. I have only watched your basic options video and that helped so much! I have yet to watch the rest of your options videos.. any tips to get higher on practice exam or how worried should I be? This will be my second time taking the exam, the first time I got a 61%..

thank you so much for this information :)) how could one know, in "Interactive Brokers", how much from the total one's money is being borrowed by the broker ? there they don't call it "debit balance". do you know whats it called there? ?- Is excees equity equivalent to SMA ? ? how can one decide if the excees equity will go to one's cash or to buying power? is it something that the client has any control over, or is it the broker's decision? ?- Is equity the equivalent to "Net Liquidation Value", meaning to the value of my money if I were to close the position. How can I know what will be the net liquidation value if I were to close only one position? do I need to calculate it manually or is there a way to see it in the platform? ?- how do you calculate how far the market value can fall before maintenance call , if you have both long and short positions, and short options as well ? thank you!! :)

There is no testable difference between Delivery Versus Payment (buyers perspective) or Receive Versus Payment.(sellers perspective). The test question is aim and shoot, point and click. It is uo to 35 calendar days to settle. It won't take the B/D 35 days to deliver to the bank because the B/D wants the money for the security as soon as possible.
