I can't see this noted anywhere, so I shall note it: This is with the Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Issay Dobrowen, 1946. By the way, it is fantastic!

dizzyfeed What I love about her most is that she gave us the real deal in everything....she is my fave player of female virtuosi...the intensity she generates within phrases is nothing short of unbelievable. Can well understand actually why it was that she was given the top prize over Oistrakh in 1935

Yep, the master of her time, and what a portrait ! Great a soul !
@jansnauwaert17854 жыл бұрын
@@lindagilbert486 Yes, she was an even greater artist and violinist than Oistrakh. Also, I don't make the distinction between female and male violinists (although it sometimes can be heard). For me, she was the greatest of them all, female and male.

Her death at 30 in a plane crash robbed us of possibly the greatest violinist of the 20th century.

Almost surely. Perhaps also the greatest violinist of all time.

She play a Omobono Stradivarius, son of the great Antonio Stradivarius
@marcvilleneuve1889 Жыл бұрын
She played Antonio Stradivari: it was a gift when aged 15 by a very rich man from Switzerland and the help of her teacher Carl Flesh. She also had a Guadagnini. That Omobono story was spread on the net and false. Etienne Vatelot in the presence of Isaac Stern on French TV was very specific about the 2 violins, because Neveu was a close friend. He had in hands the scroll of the Guadagnini which was found by a tourist nearby the plane crash, in the Acores, Portugal
