I'm going to be brutally honest here, and it's something that I've seen many people comment on similar videos. The 1999 Over the Edge PPV should've ended after Owen's death. The decision to continue the PPV was just ridiculous. I understand the reasoning why Vince decided to continue, to end the PPV and to leave the fans with clear winners (the main event), but Vince should've said, "Guys, cancel the PPV and have the remaining matches be decided on Raw or the next PPV" (which would've been King of the Ring).
@tb45446 ай бұрын
There's a very strong tradition in theater and live entertainment in general of the show continuing if at all possible. Stopping the show might have been worse for everyone, including the fans at home, in the arena, and the wrestlers themselves. There's a comfort in routine and a sense of normalcy. Stopping it immediately without warning or explanation might have frightened and confused people even more. It might have even caused panic. I think they did the right thing by continuing it and then putting together the great memorial program the next night for him. the passing of superstars is what made me appreciate wrestling. it showed me that what we saw was never truly who they were. that they were just hard working people like us who put themselves on the line for our entertainment.

Bret "The Hitman" Hart's life is tragic. He lost all youngsters Owen, Anvil and the British Bulldog (Brother-in-law) way too early 😢 Vince ditched him in his farewell match. But, he is still one of my favourite WWE Superstars of all time ❤

In fairness, they had no way of knowing Benoit did what he did at the time. Honouring him for the person they remembered and then distancing themselves once the truth came to light was the best thing they could've done.

The Raw Show after Eddies Death destroyed me. Took me Weeks to watch Wrestling again. I had so much Hype for Raw vs. Smackdown at that Time. But that was gone and after Weeeks I watched the Show.

I still remember when i was a kid, i watched the episode of Raw where Jerry had a heart attack, at first i was confused on why Cole was only doing commentary and when i found out, i felt my heart sink into a river and all i thought about was "is this the last time we'll see Jerry?"

next year will 20 years! since Eddie died... I still remember it all to this day. My friend Liam called me just before school to look at the website... and Christ did my heart sink! As soon as I got home from school and watched the Raw tribute it was hard... I can never ever listen to Hurt by Johnny Cash ever again because of the video package they presented, tears me up.

I didn't plan to cry today, I remember almost all of these. The only one I did not watch live was Roman, and that's only bc I was dealing with housing issues at the time and just couldn't watch it. People never really realize how close all the wrestlers truly are until something tragic happens.
