Hi. I'm a 73 yr old grandma who lives on our family ranch which has been in our family over 100 yrs. Just yesterday, i had a whole colony of cats show up at my house. There were six. Two mamas and some kittens. I put some food out near where they were hanging out around the edge of my yard. They are all solid black. I told my husband , well we are all done decorating for halloween, and we didnt have to do anything, lol. They are all cute as a button with either bright green or yellowish eyes too. Looks like that typical halloween kitty. In all seriousness, you did a great job on these and it makes me want to do them all! I love fall and halloween. Its my favorite time of year next to Christmas. Thanks Holly, for all the cool halloween inspiration.

These are fantastic. I love the wood looking tray and bottles. I think you should do an outline on the witches hat like you did on the letters. But a dark purple. Then outline a dark gold color on the moon. that way you have a hint of color to make those items pop. But don't lose the low key vintage look of the piece.

Just gift tissue and tape it on card stock, Although someone wrote that she tapes it on computer paper and it also works. I’ve never tried that but you can try it. Put it through your printer, any printer should work, and print right side facing up.

What kind of spray paint do you use on the plastic trays? I make those fake wood trays for display in my booth. I've had problems with certain paints on plastic and glass

It's always a primer and spray paint mix by Rustoleum.

I think the reason the black is important when doing faux wood may be because real wood , especially aged wood, often has a gray element, and a darker gray undertone. So when you have the black base, then you hit it with whites and browns, it sort of creates that gray tone that real wood has. When i do paintings, and i have to paint a tree trunk or anything wood, i always do a light layer of black first, and you are so right, it looks more real that way.

It's tissue paper, like gift tissue paper, and you just tape it onto card stock using masking tape, and then put it the right side up so it prints on tissue. Try to keep the tissue as taunt as possible, but not enough to tear. Hope that helps! xx
