Im so glad we're learning more and more about various characters post-Zhuge Liang, as a lot of interest for the Three kingdoms often dies with Zhuge Liang, so characters like Deng Ai, Chen tai, Zhang Yi, Zhang Yi, Zhang Yi and Zhang Yi really prolonges the era in terms of characters to follow.

I have always wondered: what if those commanders who revolted against Wei were stationed in Chang An (or some other important city on the Shu border), would Jiang Wei have been able to take advantage of that situation more efficiently than Wu? (Of course, taking Zhuge Dan out of the equation, as Wei would never place any "possible relatives" of Zhuge Liang near the border with Shu)

Man raiding the same area again and again seems really pointless if you cant gain any land. Also must be pretty depressing for Jiang Wei cause he is one of the biggest military general and bringing basically most of total Shu Han manpower and Wei just send 2 dudes. It's carthage vs rome all over again.

Its a shame that even with a victory theu barely made a dent in Weis defenses. I guess there was never much hope 😢

Basically. Wei had the strategic advantage. Wei simply had the resources. It wasn’t for the two kingdoms, shu would’ve fallen much earlier.

I know it’s easy to criticize Jiang Wei with our benefit of hindsight, but what was he, and Shu, supposed to do, just defend for forever? While I certainly think Shu winning was always a long shot once they lost Jing, the alternative of just holding Shu and never attacking was always doomed to fail, as history shows

as much as I root for Shu, Wei just had more land, population and troops, for Chang An to have fallen, the peak of Wei's talents in that 2nd or 3rd generation would had have to been Wang Jing, though with the great Xiahou Mao gone things were certainly easier lol

Can us English natives get a little clarification on what exactly the ‘Di Path’ is? Sounded like a mountain pass or something but in this video sounds like a town ?

It a town located on a mountain path that traditionally lead to the Di tribes so that town became named as 狄道 Di Dao in pinyin and translated to Di Path

open up a google map and just look at how much mountains there are. There are no arable land to support populations. China basically expanded as far as it could to all directions until they hit land that can't support farming

what good is some more land though. This isn't a video game and land doesn't produce anything by themselves. It was not like Shu Han was this heavily population dense area. They needed more people. Land is only useful if A) its fertile or resource heavy and people can live there to produce stuff from it or B) it is a key military path that can help you attack or defend. Going south or west achieve neither of this so I don't see how just gaining more land is going to change anything

@@MillerZhanged I assume you mean let’s talk lore series? After this series end (episode 10 will be the finale), the next series will be Guanqiu Jian’s Conquest of Korea which will probably be sometimes next weekend. Then after that, it would probably be up to another community poll.
