One thing you might want to include is cost/upkeep, especilly stuff like "This unit doesen't cost bronze" can be quite important.
@SeriousTrivia Жыл бұрын
I considered it but I actually don’t think cost factor that much to the decision making that much. This guide is really about what each unit is designed to do. And we do the grading sort of tier by tier so when the decision is between say the renowned kushite archer or the renowned nubian longbowmen, their costs are close enough for me to not worry about it. And when the cost are wildly different, it’s not usually in the same tier to be comparable either. On top of that cost only really factor in heavily in the early game. Also the number of discounts from recruiting (pharaoh court, buildings, items) will shift the values quite a lot to really give it that much weight. Basically, I rank the units, and you look at your economy to gauge which ones your can afford.

Costs and Upkeep also factors greatly into my decisions, particularly if bronze or gold is involved To your point about outside influences, there are outside influences to the base stats or unit types as well

I’m not playing Pharaoh so I don’t know the tactical applications of different units Is it ever worthwhile to have, at least one, ranged fodder? “Wasting” ammo to start fires. Drawing fire to allow more expensive range to focus fire without return fire. Triggering defending AI to attack your chosen ground. Perhaps others, seem like worth giving up a unit slot in a stack More importantly for my fighting in Troy, T1 units are always available to recruit after occupying or looting. I understand that this video is about native units, but an evaluation could be; while fighting in this area, here is the always available unit for this function (Sorry I only know flame shot from 3K which is triggered by the general and not a special ability of a higher tiered unit)

Fire arrows are only found on higher tier archers so while it’s definitely worth it but you can’t really find a cheap unit to do that job like in three kingdoms

Have you considered playing with the Agony mod for pharaoh for a later playthrough if you choose to do one? Been using it since release and it definitely makes the game harder and does its best to fix up the battles.

What are the main changes? Usually I prefer to play in vanilla until development ends, so I can give feedback on what I feel like are needed changes

@@SeriousTrivia adds a three tier population mechanic for recruitment, adds workforce migration, overhauls the ai's strategy on the campaign map to be smarter and target player less, remove all campaign AI cheat buffs (like being able to produce stone without a stone region), increased battle map size, changes to ai in battle so it keeps reserves more, chariot charges can damage friendlies if you charge your chariots into them. overhauls all the unit stats to make morale more important, also removes some ai bonuses in battle. I was just reading off the steam page, he's only on version 0.3 right now but he's also currently working on a overhaul to the sea peoples mechanic that is already partially implemented. The developer of the mod also made the same one for TROY.

How are you liking the game so far? I have read and watched so many reviews about the game I just want to hear your take on it. For me personally, I didn't find Egypt "sexy" enough for me to try out the game. For context I have been playing Total War games since the first Shogun game came out. Love your 3 Kingdoms lets play videos.
@SeriousTrivia Жыл бұрын
It’s a solid total war game. I would rate it around a 8 for where the base game stands right now. The combat being Bronze Age limits the game a bit in terms of the battles but the campaign side of the game is solid and there are enough “new” mechanics to make the game interesting and replay-able. I personally am not a fan of the setting either but that aside the game is solid.

Doesn't kushite archers have also blot out the sun ability? I remember playing Amenmese using kushite archers to just drown my enemies in arrows in the early game Also i disagree that you never should recruit the kushite archer units they are flip side to Nubian archer units. Tanky archers that can take fire and shoot faster than other archers. Very useful when you can't avoid damage to your archers units.
@danielkol477 Жыл бұрын
Why would you want to tank with your archers when Nubian bowmen have an absurd range advantage. If you can't avoid damage to your archer units then you are doing something wrong
@jomanthan Жыл бұрын
@@danielkol477During sieges towers will be able to shot you despite the incredible range and Nubian archers don't hold up well from tower damage and also sometimes in order to knock out dangerous range units the kushite can simple be better at running in taking damge and just destroy the other range unit be sheer volume of arrows. I ran a mix of both achers tips as Amenmese Nubian as general damage dealers and kushite as units that kill quickly a special range unit I wanted removed or flaking a melee unit and just delete. Don't underestimate the blot out the sun ability it's very powerful. In fact it's the best hands down ability that effect reload speed. Other Archer have to give up alot of range for a lot weaker ability to do anything like kushite archers.
@SeriousTrivia Жыл бұрын
My issue is blot is that your ammo is limited so you basically are giving up total damage ceiling for a bit of a burst
@jomanthan Жыл бұрын
@@SeriousTriviaIt's true that you burn through your ammo quicker and you have lower damge celling. But it can be very useful tool to get a opening before AI can react. Also kushite archer units are very well armour for their tiers so you can use them as surprisingly good reinforcement to fix holes in frontline or as flank force to through in back of enemies to make break earlier. As long there's not alot of armour piercing the can hold longer than they have any right to. I guess it's a preference thing but I found them super useful in my campaign. Plus kushite archer just cost food making them really useful if there is a bronze shortage and you want something better teir 1 Nubian archers.

@@danielkol477when there is a need to micromanage unit, say like chariots, having a tankier ranged unit is preferable to their range taking some free shots but still being able to move into range to return fire
