The white flying creature you can see in the background here and there is called a Paolumu. Despite its mammalian appearance, it is a flying wyvern renowned for interesting aerial attacks. They usually live in a locale called the Coral Highlands, essentially a terrestrial coral reef, so it's quite interesting to see them in a forest.

They end up blowing themselves into flying cotton balls, by interesting aerial moves.

I really hope a future game reclassifies Pao as a fanged beast, or better yet give us a "Flying Beast" classification for him and new airborne mammalian species. It's so strange that we have, like, six different wyvern subclasses but all mammalian monsters are just lumped into one class

@@tdthedevilsrighthand712 They have their own special place in the phylogenetic tree of the MHverse, yea, but are lumped into the Fanged Beast class just like every other mammalian monster. Hopefully the beasts get some more love and additional subclasses in the sixth gen, a Flying Beast class for things like Pao and his subspecies and a Brute Beast class for things like Bulldrome and Gammoth would definitely be a small but appreciated step in the right direction IMO

3:40 Yep, it's far from universal (some Wyverians actually grow to giant size, and some stay about the same size, apparently depending on ethnicity and individual variation), but many shrink greatly when they become elderly. They live a long time too, on the order of hundreds of years, but evidently a few hundred years is the max (as they are often just as in the dark as humans when it comes to more distant historical events).

Hey Seri, Wyverians have a lot longer life spans than humans in the Monster Hunter worlds so that is why they remember your grandpa

That said, Red died recently enough that the player character has many memories of them, and Red trained Kayna (who seems only a few years older than the player character), so Red has been dead for I'd say less than ten years, maybe even five years.

Seri, could you please get yourself a Velkhana? (Warnig: I got this name out of a german monstiepedia so it might be slightly different in english) They are ice monsties with a really cool glacier smash attack, I watched a video where someone used that attack and dealed 700 damage OMG, also Ranmar is my favorite dragon (next to the Velkhana) so could you PLEASE let him do more fights? I've noticed that if you do egg search once dens stay marked on the map so you really don't need Sunfeather ;-)
