We missed you, Serj! I've been a fan since your first album with SOAD. I am a 48 yr old multi genre vocalist and for 20+ years now when it's time for vocal practice, instead of doing scales, I throw on one of your albums and sing along. Your vocal range is so diverse, within 20 minutes I have warmed up every note in every key known to mankind. YOU, sir, are without a doubt, THE best vocalist this world has ever heard. Thank you for all you have done for modern music. ❤

I never thought that an old Armenian man (and I am one) would be rocking out on KZbin. My grandmother narrowly escaped the genocide. She was rescued by french ships at the base of Musa Dagh in 1915. She was 12 years old and the horrors she saw haunted her for her whole life. She loved America with all her heart. Thanks to Serj for helping us to never forget.

@@BalkanSpectreYou gotta have a nuanced view of this. A lot of people rock American flags and become patriotic because America is the place where they live, or because they got attached to the country, especially people who escape horrors will get attached once they rest there, it's not because they support literally every single horrific thing the American flag has stood for and every genocide and war and bombing America has done. You're doing great trying to make people aware that the things America does is just as horrible but you gotta have more nuance, and try to come at this by trying to educate people, rather than demonizing victims of genocide, especially when the topic is so personal to someone

Eh. It's similar, if he sings in certain ways. He's definitely avoiding heavier stuff and has been for a long time and it's not just a creative preference. Even in some of the more aggressive parts of this he's straining more than he ever did in the past. I think he still makes decent music, but I also think it's a little disingenuous to pretend his voice hasn't degraded at all with age.

Serj is a MONSTER in this world (Monster meaning "massive" ALL positivity in this description) He exemplifies the definition of artist. I don't believe monetary gain has ever been a focus of his (at least not for himself & if it was, it was for very worth while causes) The talent of his is mind blowing. His solo projects or Soad work is epic & still continuing. What impresses me the most is just how dedicated & honest his intentions of raising awareness of equal human rights for EVERYONE as well as not condoning any violence of any type. I have NO shame admiting to idolizing this Man!!

Having recently read “Down with the System” and having followed Serj for a number of years I understand how personal this song is, and the depth of meaning behind it. It astounds me how deeply ingrained in Turkish culture the denial of the Armenian Genocide is, I recently viewed a recipe (of all things) on Instagram where the cook credited Lahmajoun as being Turkish. A number of people (myself included) questioned the accuracy of this, raising the Armenian link, and I was disgusted by how many Turks came out of the woodwork vehemently denying the Armenian genocide occurred, and even blaming Armenians as being the aggressors. I have no ties to Armenia, I have no Armenian in me but I will happily and proudly stand in support of the Armenian people and their ongoing fight for justice. Justice WILL shine on you all!

@@KillKenny09which native Americans? The ones that brutally murdered each other before, during, and after the arrival of the Vikings, and later, other Europeans? The nature of man is not bound by winners and losers, or the strong and victim. The nature of man is forged in the need to be the alpha. It is in all animals. There is a reason for terms like animalistic behavior, and tribalism. They are innate in all of us, including the “native Americans”. There will always be wars for territory. There is always a victim. It’s what you do with cards you’ve been dealt. Whining for hundreds of years never helps. Build a casino and take the Man’s money!

Such a powerful message in such a powerful song, Serj can rock. Bridge actually was sick and when I heard it I was schocked.

I'm hanging by thread. Like Roger Waters, his music is so sanctimonious now, as to be unlistenable. Sad

The way he sings the lyrics "Justice Will Shine On," though. I don't remember a lot of musical jargon, but instead of a hopeful crescendo as the high note, he turns the crescendo at "shine" to a lower and makes it menacing. Like this isn't a hopeful wish anymore, it's a promise and a threat to the unjust. And of course the rest of the lyrics follow through with making that promise.
