With my terrariums, I'm trying to make them as natural as possible. I'm wondering if you have considered parallel light beams versus wide diffusion. The sun's light hits us with parallel beams but the jungle canopy does diffuse. I currently use 48" 38W full spectrum (white) LED bars (with 730nm output for flowering). I'm considering using a parabolic reflector or a linear fresnel. My suspicion is that focusing the light to parallel rays would also reach further down into a tall tank (mine is 48" tall) but because the led bulbs are 120-degree, I'd still have a bit of diffusion.. Thanks for your opinions!

Do the lights get too hot for the planters?

Kind of remiss not to mention materials. Where do you get those sockets for so cheap?
@pershop49504 жыл бұрын
wood, screw, and lights -- the lights are up to you. make the hole that fits the lights you buy.

my light may be overkill but i bought a spiderfarmer sf1000 watt LED light lol the plants in my vivarium grow like they are on steroids
@smorc656 жыл бұрын
Did you ever do a PAR reading for this tank? I wonder how it compares to branded vivarium LEDs--probably good enough if it made the tank grow!

What is the diameter of the pots you used
@pershop49504 жыл бұрын
those look like 1 gallon pots, but pick the pot that fits the lights you buy. some similar ideas also used reflector hoods.

I can't remember the brand off the top of my head, but they are 60w leds.
@kampo838 жыл бұрын
very nice, been thinking of something simlar, have you tried taking the diffusers off the bulbs? I did that for LED bulbs in my fishroom, makes the lights more efficent since the light is focused straight down. imgur.com/6iXQfAb
