Chef C literally threw a bowl of soup onto my chest after I put the cream sauce topper on the croutons instead of under, but when a waitress would mess up no matter how bad he wouldn’t say shit. I saw him once tell a line cook that he shouldn’t have the privilege of having balls bc he was too stooped (had to censor bc yt notsee policies) to procreate. But I will say he also threw a hot pan at the owner when they refused to give us the raises they promised, and also gave up his raise and bonus so that we could get one instead

@@joshuavick887 That's why the lowkey best "benefit" a cooking job can offer to its cooks is contracting out their end of the night cleaning to a professional restaurant cleaning company. The only two places I've ever worked for that contracted out a different cleaning crew from their kitchen staff have been super high end, so it's rare to come by, but man is it so fucking nice to simply shut everything off, wrap the line, and go home. It makes such a huge difference compared to cooking jobs where you have to do all of the cleaning at the end of every shift. You get to go in and COOK, and then leave the cleaning to the cleaners. Besides, those cleaning companies ALWAYS do a much better job, and the kitchens I've worked in that contract out their end of shift cleaning to a cleaning company are, to this day, the cleanest kitchens I've ever had the privilege of working in.

I’ve only worked in one kitchen where we didn’t even have a designated dishwasher, the cooks and myself would just switch off whenever we had a chance to get away from our station and run back when we got an order. Some nights when we got slammed with orders and there wasn’t much time to step away we’d be left with 3 mountains of dishes to wash on top of sanitizing surfaces, cleaning the grill, sweeping and mopping the floors, etc. We often cut corners, to say the least. To have the opportunity to show up to work, cook and prep food and then just… leave? I seriously envy anyone in that situation.

I can genuinely say, as a cook when I had to learn how to flip food in a pan I moved my whole body too. To help the trainer legit had me flipping pieces of bread to get use to moving the skillet back in time. It took me 2 weeks to grasp the concept because now it was time to flip eggs (w/o cracking the yolk). Always learn the basic even if it looks silly. You go from moving your whole body to just the wrist lol. Btw I was taught this at Ihop after making pizza for 10yrs.
