I can understand the frustration of memory loss. Large chunks of my childhood are simply not remembered. Don't fret too much about not being able to recall events. I'm happy/relieved I don't have clear memories of all life's’ activities. I wish you a peaceful Easter.

After I was in the hospital for a month of ECTS, I still have my treatment resistant major depression for which I'm on medication. I lost 5 years of memory from the past and a long period from after the treatment. It's been 15 years since and I still don't remember. It's very upsetting.

I don't even remember being in the hospital. Or the birth of my grandchild. During the 1st treatment, I woke up under the anesthesia but though I wrote down what happened right away, how it felt, I now have no real memory of it due to the subsequent ECTS.

I hope you are doing better. I did do ECT bc my psychiatrist said he had tried everything and I was treatment resistant. I took 2 sessions of 3 treatments per week for 2 weeks, outpatient. So a total of 12 treatments. After that I couldn't do anymore bc of the trauma of being put to sleep and crazy deranged psyco dreams I would have while doing them. My 1st session seamed to help my depression & was doing really well. Side effects were weird though. I couldn't drive because i couldn't remember which way was what, not even my own home. I couldn't write at all. Also memory loss. My depression slowly after a couple months went right down to where it was, so I did another session. Which started out fine and then it wasn't helping at all and I started having these dreams. So crazy it's practically impossible to describe them bc they were so psyco. They scared me so bad i I couldn't do the treatments anymore. Now all im stuck with now is the same depression, more ptsd, and you guessed it...more memory loss. My memory from the last 3ish years has been very spotty. I remember some things perfectly but not when it happened, some things sound kinda familiar, or I never remember it happening. Now I still don't sign my name the same way twice, i still get confused where things are when I'm driving, and I have to write everything on my calendar or notepad, tell someone right away or take someone with me. All this for nothing. But recently I have been put on 2 other meds that help alot & have found an awesome therapist that actually cares and has helped me get through a few childhood traumas so far!

Was it done to you inside a psychiatric hospital building or were you taken to a regular hospital for that. Francis Farmer had ECT done to her by force and she did not get her memory back. She wrote about her horror experience with forced treatments and being kept against her will in a psychiatric hospital for years.

Hey Vin, hope your doing well, I just had my first and last ECT session three weeks ago. It wasn’t necessary to undergo treatment, my mental disorder wasn’t that bad, I had ADHD and mild psychosis. The experience felt hellish, you think I will recover spiritually, mentally and get my memory back?
