Wow, that's much easier than I thought! I did the transmission drain and fill on my 8th gen after watching your video some months back. Dealership wanted $100 labor (I supply my own fluids / parts for jobs they do for me). They only charge me $20 labor for oil changes. But, I saw your video before I asked them. I knew it was as easy, or even easier, than an oil change. But because it has "transmission" in the name, they charge more. Now I am thinking of doing the coolant, it's been since around 120k miles, 5 years ago, now at around 165k. This seems almost as easy, just a simple drain and fill again. Anything extra I should make sure I think of or do?

Great question, I should have clarified this, the Caps hold pressure in the radiator and keep coolant from boiling, if your cap isn’t holding pressure your vehicle coolant could get to hot, you can pressure test the cap to determine if it’s good, but the price of the tool is more than the cap

@dannysdiygarage Жыл бұрын
There’s a lot of brands that work, make sure it’s compatible with Honda.
@iprophecy67689 ай бұрын
No you should. Only use Honda type 2 coolant. You buy it at any Honda dealer. Its only 21 dollars. 40 for 2 gallons. Dont cheap out. The factory coolant is type 2 coolant. By putting that valvoline garbage you potentially will ruin the engine. Only put type 2 coolant, or if you do put valvoline you need to drain the entire block. Which takes a ton of distilled water and hours to do

Hi Danny this coolant replacement went perfect on our civic 2010 and the heat blasts really hot on -30 windchill day I have a 2012 accord I had the dealer flush coolant at 90k, at 102k now and I notice the heater at max heat doesn’t blow as hot as the civic After dealer flushed accord it also made a weird sound in the dash area for a week or so when pulling up into the garage after a drive at the end of a drive The civic heat blows so that at max it hurts palm of hand Never gets quite that hot on the accord Could the dealer have done something incorrect when flushing coolant with their flush machine ? It’s been since spring 2022 when they did the work That dealer at 90k was first coolant service for accord I should have done it sooner and by drain and fill Ironically the civic was flushed by the same dealer years ago at 85k and I just followed your video’s steps to do a drain plus fill at 150k a week ago Civic always had hot air, accord gets warm just not the same degree as civic Both engines super warm after 20+ min hey driving
@dannysdiygarage Жыл бұрын
I doubt the dealer did anything wrong by flushing, use a scan tool and compare coolant temperature readings between both cars when they are at operating temperatures, also could be the blend actuator or door sticking, just a thought, it would need to be checked.

@@dannysdiygarage it sounded like I had one right after they changed it, for a week or so. Coming from right side of the dash when pulling into garage to park , like inching up really slow/ creeping up slowly to garage wall That’s what I thought I heard pulling into driveway and parking after end of drive. I always turn off hvac at end of drive I noticed the coolant reserve tank went down after a week or so of driving and I topped it off. I plan to do a drain and fill when it warms up I am also going to replace the blower motor and transistor because a 4-5 years ago accord’s blower started making annoying mild buzzing sound, gets louder the higher fan speed. The civic is 2 years old, quiet blower motor and much higher air movement from blower
