This helped me a lot ! A tip to connect the pipes if you’re alone is to use hose clamps on either side on the pipes so you get a leverage point to bring those pipes together. Be mindful and not clamp on the wider part on the car side pipe but put the clamp just behind it.

Great video! I especially like the recommendation to cut the old core pipes. I didn't, used a screwdriver, and the firewall pipes flanges bent them so they would not seal. A 1-day easy job turned out to be a 3-day headache. One recommendation is, Blow compressed air through the firewall pipes in the engine compartment. There will be a lot less coolant to spill.

Do you not need to drain the coolant before disconnecting the heater hoses? I only see you mention taking the cap off to release pressure
@Servicetutorials7 ай бұрын
Yes, you can drain the coolant if you have any, in our case it was drained all over the carpet inside.

Perfect explained!!! Is it possible that the radiator broke and there is no water in the cabin, but that it flows under the chassis outside? I'm asking because I can't find where my coolant is leaking, and I see drops under the car. The mechanic looked at all the forks and they are all dry, and we can't see where the fluid is coming from. I didn't open inside the cabin to check this radiator, so I better consult with you. I didn't notice that my windows fog up, maybe a little in winter, when it's humid outside. Passat b6 2008 2.0 TDI PD engine. Thanks in advance!

Why remove the screw? What does that give you?
@jaksel11 ай бұрын
If you mean the screw in the engine compartment, I think the reason is that you need to be able to pull the pipes back in order to detach the heater core.
@randalantunes268111 ай бұрын
Great video However I don’t understand why you left out one of the worse part the process which is to disconnect the pipes. It’s a very poor design by VW. Among many
