thankyou, I just got a nissan navara d22 and purchased the oil filter but was surprised with what it looked like. use to seeing oil filters just screw on and off, casing and all.

My YD25 Fuel Filter does not look like that. It's in a 2008 Navara D40. Unfortunately, the last bit was the important bit for me - getting air out of the fuel system, and it's a real pain.

Great vid. I use diesel dog filter kits on my nav. I have changed my fuel filter before try mounting it upside down on the same mount with fuel lines removed then you can undo it in the vehicle. One more thing what's the brand of bash plate on your nav is it stainless steel?

Thats genius about the upside down filter! And i just run an ebay spec "protector store 4x4" bash plate. A few fitting issues, it didnt line up well, but dear lord now that its on I can tell you, there ain't nothing mother mary could throw at it to dent it. It's solid as 👌

Hey man! I love your vids, I'm hoping to buy a Nav some time soon, but I cant decide whether to get a 3.0l or 2.5. A lot of mixed messages on the internet but never really a reason why. Have you got a personal preference? I'm planning on taking it camping and daily work trips (no towing) Thanks!

Hey mate, thanks for the support! Personally I like my YD25, my brothers ZD30 is ok but I like the way my engine feels and drives in the 2.5L. I don't have any other issues with them personally but you do hear the horror stories, but you also get those no matter what you drive 🤷‍♂️ price will also play a part too, the ZDs will be older and therefore cheaper but if you can afford the YD25 I'd recommend one :)

the plug for the ZD30 is 16.4*1.33, supercheap can order it in but it is a fkd size

Gday mate I’m 3 years late here haha but I just purchased a 2013 Nissan navara D22 and was wondering what your thoughts were on the blue penrite coolant .? Super cheap recommended for my D22 as I’m doing a Copland flush as there looks to be only water in the radiator . Also what engine oil do you recommend I have the 2.5 cr td with 155000ks ?. Mate I pay for all my services but after this im going to do my own 🤣🤣 you made it look simple as is the fuel filter worth passing and getting mechanic to do ? Because you said you had air in lines mate ?

It's actually the first time I've had that issue. It's usually simple enough, but it shouldn't cost much at all for them to do it as part of a larger service. It also doesnt need to be done as often as the other filters so you could easily leave it for your next mechanic visit. Depends how much you like the taste of diesel and how willing you are to suck it through the lines if you do get air in the system 🤣 doesn't taste great either for reference!

*Air in fuel lines? There should be a handpump in the engine bay for that!* 1. Unscrew the fuel filter. 2. Screw back a new fuel filter (primed with fuel poured into it). 3. Use the hand pump. Done! It should be right on top where the fuel filter is. It looks like a large round black knob. You just press it down hard a few times till it gets stiff and it manually bleeds the system. It takes 10 seconds tops and maybe two tries if it doesn't work the first time. Google "d22 hand fuel pump" and you should be able to recognize it immediately.

@@KaffiRawr Hey mate, I know the pump is there. I spent about 30 minutes pumping it with no result. There was too much air in the system, it had to be bled of air in order for the fuel system to be primed.

That's why you always clamp fuel hoses with hose clamps, or shove a clean bolt or similar into the end of the hose so it holds the fuel in the lines. I do all my own servicing on my 06 STX, have only ever needed to pump max 10 times on the primer.

All turbo vehicles have intercoolers. Just Google "how does an intercooler work".

I have an yd25 too, but the manual recommends using 5w30 and the nissan service put 15w40. Do you know about that?

Does the d22 have a gearbox oil filter

Two tips. 1) Remove the oil filler cap before you remove the sump plug. This will allow the oil to drain faster and clear the oil galleries. Engine should be warm when changing oil. 2) when you disconnect fuel feed line to the fuel filter either clamp it with a fuel line clamp of put a tapered drift down it to prevent fuel draining back down to the tank. You’ll find it much easier to prime the fuel filter this way.
