And, I see some people are making excuses for "Rosita", when it's no excuse for it. That person should be fired by now. These characters supposed to be there to entertain LITTLE KIDS, which means they should be mostly looking down. They don't have to look down that far. Those 2 girls were at a good distance from that character when they first had their hands out for a hug, or high five. They didn't want "Rosita" to pick them up. And for anyone who thinks it's not a big deal, then you're part of the problem, it is a big deal. These performers/ mascots are "supposed" to be there to entertain little children, and put smiles on their faces. @@tjr-007tt -Exactly! There multiple videos, and if anyone cared to view them they’re easily found. I’m not at all surprised by the op’s discourse as it’s typical of certain archetypes. They’re quick to dismiss the experiences of others.

I’m pretty sure this person is racist or at least is just shitty. Sesame Place said that they were saying no to a mother because she wanted Rosita to hold their infant. It’s only when Brown’s attorney claimed that he had video evidence of that not being true. He said he would let them fix this issue before he releases it. That’s when Sesame Place made another apology saying “that it wasn’t ok.” That tells me that their first apology was a lie and it wasn’t until they got threatened that they decided to really try and save their skin.

yup, how many kids you think they see a day, and how many go unnoticed, but because a video of two black kids skipped which probs happens to any kid 200 times a day. idk this seems like the wrong thing to get mad at without facts. but then again a dude can shoot up a police station and still get support so idk

Wow... PERHAPS the employee didn't see the two children (who just so happen to be African American), BUT said employee should have been trained to SCAN, VERTICALLY to ensure said employee made EVERY VISIBLE ATTENDEE IS RECOGNIZED, ACKNOWLEDGED, APPRECIATED, and made to feel ACCEPTED. In this situation, it would not have taken anything more than "high fiving" the two children. INSTEAD, they were grievously omitted from the momentary jubilance of this parade ... you need only look at the disappointment (HURT) expressed by these children after BEING TOTALLY IGNORED by this Sesames Street character (EMPLOYEE) to know that NOT EVERYONE gets a complete, joyous experience. When will it end ... ????
@sailorsister2112 жыл бұрын
No I have seen other video evidence of the employee doing the same thing to other black children. It did seem like the employee did saw them since the employee seem to wave them off instead of walking pass them.

SERIOUSLY???? ... You're really trying to defend the indefensible???? There’s no way that person in the Rosita suit didn’t see the little girls, they looked right at the children and shook their hand AND head no at them, anyone in their right mind can see that. It’s a shame that people like this who don’t have love in their heart for ALL people get into jobs that allow them to display their hatred and get absolutely no reprimand from it. Incidents like this show children who look like these little girls that they do not matter or they’re not as important as their fair skinned counterparts. We’ll I’m here to tell you that ALL children matter regardless of how they look and should be treated as such. Get this clown out of this role and fix this

Let's just keep the characters on the floats and people behind a rope then no contacts like this will not happen. The character can just wave and the kids can wave back. If you going to say it put the evidence out there.

I personally don’t believe this is a racism inccident, i think there is probably a resonant explanation. in the video we can see that the girl that we igroned were standing outside the yellow line which i suppose that you should stay behind it to insure the person in the custome safety and the viewer. secondly it look like the girls are reaching out for hugs which i think the employee is not allowed to do, while the other people were getting high-fives. The person in the coustume can’t simple stop and give them high fives because the parade has to be moving, while the other people already were ready to give high fives. I first thought this was a act of racism but viewing the video a couple times i felt like it was a mistake
@malaikaashanti11102 жыл бұрын
I agree with you 100%. And your right! It isn’t racism! I talked to one of the employees myself. They said it wasn’t racism. The media is making up lies, and people are editing videos to suit a narrative. I’m not for that narrative. It’s not racism. It’s a misunderstanding.

I noted here people were snubbed, included the two little girls which the Rosita character saw. She clearly looks down and give a different dismissive hand gesture. First to shake her finger as a no at the woman requesting the baby to be held, then downward at the two little girls which is a blow-off hand gesture. Apparently it's not the first time with this character.

If a corporation that is known for its diversity message has a theme park with a known-to-be-diverse character that two 6 year old children were beyond excited to high five, and that character high fives numerous white children along the road, THEN very obviously snubs the black children, who SEE that character go on to high more white children, they should have immediately announced their sincerest apology for how those girls felt, and gone on to announce a human resources investigation into that employee's behavior-especially since more videos of that same character and possibly employee, have popped up all over social media. A 6 year old understands the pain and embarassment of being left out. the 'one not picked'. The one who didn't get a birthday invitation. For a child to unexpectedly experience this from her beloved character from a favorite show, only to hear adults say it's because of the color of her skin, whether an intentional act or not, is traumatic for a child and you are GD right they should be on the hook for counseling. To have a job entertaining children, then intentionally avoiding certain ones is malicious and cruel, and if an investigation and shift footage shows a pattern they should be fired and the company should apologize to any kids who had this experience. They obviously need to put employees through rigorous diversity training because in that second video where a very small child approaches the character and a smug blonde employee, they roll right past without even looking to make sure they don't knock the poor kid down! At Disney, I saw characters crouching down to children all day long, because making a child feel seen and special is what they are selling. * For those commenters sneering about companies having to pay for counseling for every racial incident, your insensitivity, lack of self awareness or empathy tells me you are probably white and vote Republican. You and your offspring don't experience racism, so your minimizing it when tiny children have felt publically rejected is sociopathic and unacceptable. More people need to challenge this gross behavior, it's not ok.
