I'm posting this classic S.S. cartoon because it was highly requested. In fact, a couple people begged me to post it. This, along with the "O" cartoon, is very nostalgic to me. Eerie Indian music accompanies the cartoon.

I am 46 years old....so glad you posted this...we had the best children's television. I can't say that at all for the stuff they put out for today's children. I will copy all vintage 70's-80's Sesame Street episodes and show them to my grandchildren.

What can I say? This is one of the first animated segments that I recall with infinite fondness. I loved the music and I wanted to be the kid on the eagle flying away from the bullies and the real world. I sure wish things were more like they were. I wish that eagle would find me again and take me back to my happy place.

This is why i have utmost respect for the 60's. Yes it a very dark time in history, but sometimes it's the darkness that arouses and ignites this kind of creativity. REAL art & beauty was bursting out all over at that time between 1967-1973. Those were the golden years.

This song has been rotating on my my mind's playlist carousel ever since I first heard it as a four year old four decades ago. And it remains because I've been cosmically blessed to have been a child when artists weren't as hindered and handcuffed by focus groups, politically correct assassins of creativity, and bottom line slash and cut expediency for profit as they are now. . .I can imagine how it went down. . .Hey. Can you write a song? About what? The letter E. . .Um, okay. . Hallelujah and Amen.

Man, Sesame Street used to be so GOOD. They had this sort of thing, they had all these classic characters and skits - there was just this level of artistry to it. Now, well - I've been outside of Sesame Street's age range for a good long while, and I don't have kids, so I haven't seen a lot of its current stuff - but I've seen some, and man, if that's anything to go by, it has gone WAY downhill.

If time travel were possible, I'd go back to 1970! This can either make you cry, for the nostalgia and the beautiful story, or it will take you back to the 70's when everything was so magical. This originally aired in 1969 and aired usually when the letter E was featured throughout the 70's!

I've been searching for this for years, but didn't know what it was called, or even what it was about. I only remembered the music and the boy flying with the eagle into the sunset. I'd almost forgotten this existed but now I remember it. Wonderfully psychedelic! Even then I had a feeling that something about the imagery was really strange in a pleasing way...now I realize the multicultural aspect of it was what I couldn't quite put my finger on - the very Indian music, the somewhat Native American-seeming idea (to me anyway) of riding on an eagle, the very European-looking queen...oh, Sesame Street! If most programs were half as good I'd still be watching TV.

I was 11 in 1969, but had siblings 5 and 7 years younger than me, so saw lots of "preschool" TV at an older age. This is one of my all-time favorite films from those days. S.S. was my primary source of exposure to 'non-Hollywood-style' independent animation. (Kudos also to "The International Animation Festival," another PBS 1970's show, and to RIchard William's wonderful half-hour version of "A Christmas Carol" which blew my mind in 1972 with its pen-and-ink/crosshatch/book-illustration style.) Was this the work of the Hubley animation studio? Looks like it~~ It would also be fun to learn who played the music~~ And could that be (a very relaxed) Tom Lehrer on narration? Thanks so much to the creators of this short, and to anyone who might be able to answer my Qs.

I'm 37 now. A man from Cajun land, historian, self-proclaimed poet, teaching English to foreigners in a foreign land at the moment. But this clip brings back deep emotions from my very innocent early days that make me feel pretty weird. I always wondered how the queen felt, actually I felt what she must have felt. I married a woman just like her, but I won't steal her easter egg. Wonder what happened to that little thief. Did the eagle abandon him on a deserted isle? Always felt bad about him!
