the little town in the California desert I grew up in was fortunate to have many GOOD homestyle Mexican restaurants. I haven't seen this clip since I was probably 5 or 6 years old, and it brings back a flood of memories...how I used to watch this clip and it would remind me of all the awesome food I was fortunate enough to be introduced to at such a young age.

These kids were shredding cheese, washing pots, taking orders, serving platters etc. and then ended the video with "it's a lot of hard work running a restaurant but it's worth it, especially when they give us a lunch break" 😂🤣 Kids these days wouldn't survive a day

Lots of kids who have families who are in the hospitality industry don't even know how lucky they have it? But also in some cultures the hospitality business is truly a family affair. With parents, aunts and uncles, siblings and cousins all working together to make it profitable.

There’s a Mexican restaurant in the town where we live. That has been run by a wonderful Mexican family. A brother, and sister team. Since 1990. We’re proud to know the owners. The brother is a very down-to-earth, humble guy. The kind of guy you’d want to have as a friend. He knows both of us by name.

Before I went to school I used to "work" with my Tata doing waste management with him. When the car didn't work we would hop on his bike and go around the city. I was about 3-4 years old at the time and these were all day assignments. We would stop for lunch breaks too. I learned the value of hard work from him. Nowadays you couldn't even get a kid that young or older to do work like that without technology or complaints lol. That's why I try to teach my son the same way I was raised.

I love mexician food. Even though I'm not hispanic, my favorite are enchiladas where we mix it with chicken, cheese, and green chiles. We top it with spicy chili sauce and cheese and call it "Red Devil Enchiladas" simply from my days of high school football and the parties we threw.

@@penquin323 I think he got the term from McDonald's about their Big Mac Sauce but that's a family recipe sauce right there in that clip. Kind of like how the 'secret dressing' which is mostly oil, vinegar, seasonings mix the Italian bakery by me puts on their subs. You have a pretty good idea of what it might consist of but the ratio of everything and that secret ingredient is never for sure. I hope all of your family is well. I enjoyed this clip on Sesame Street as a kid in the late 80s and early 90s. It made me like REAL tacos before I even tried them.
