I literally cannot get the text rendered out into PS. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong but the text just overwrites the background I have when I import it. Even without the background, the text just imports with a transparent background with a reddish type opacity???

Theoretically, would it not be easier to just rasterize the text and choose XUS, thereafter making a layer from cut, and ctrl + click on XUS layer thus choosing it. After this erase the fill of the text and creating a stroke on the *selection*. After this just erase the parts where you want holes in the stroke. I absolutely love the idea, but would this way of *accomplishing the first step* not be easier? This would also make the stroke more clean ^^

It is the process of changing mathematically calculated visual data to rasterized bitmap (think of it like locking the quality and structure of the rasterized element). Text in Photoshop is vector-based, meaning it is created through mathematical calculations thusly giving the ability to endlessly scale it without quality regression. Rasterizing it gives the ability to change the layer's pixels but locking the layer to that resolution.

You should use Illustrator for the Type Treatment, making thoose strokes and dots can be done alot easier

The reason why the diagonals look ridged because you cant really use shift to straighten the line so when you use the pen tool and go diagonal it will always appear pixelated. Also happens in illustrator.
