@Stu Pedaso Hi Stu--Thanks for writing. First of all, just to be clear, Bishop Peter is the speaker and I just facilitate the postings of the videos. Sorry, but I don't quite understand when you ask, "Gods existence depended on whether a tribe was victorious in a war, then how do you believe in a deity? I don't recall that being in the video but if you tell me what minute it is at I will go back and review. The ancient books of the Bible probably did start as oral tradition and were eventually recorded in written form. When they were written down, by whom, for whom, and for what purpose all play into how we are to understand them in terms of THEIR understanding of God at that particular point in history. I tend to view our understanding of God as a process: We understand much more now about him than people did 5000 years ago because we have been thinking about him, praying to him and watching him be revealed to us over that time span so that we have a more complete understanding of him. Not fully complete, but moreso. Certainly as God was made manifest in Jesus it brings us an entire new understanding of the nature of God as compared to whether your tribe was victorious in battle or how the Israelites understood God as the Law was given on Mt. Sinai, just as two examples. I hope that helps.

Science and theology should not be used in the same sentence. Anyone who uses it pretends more than he can deliver. Theology is a matter of heart more than mind. People are afraid of it because they have not selves into their heart in any serious measure

Hello, I've just come across you videos at a moment I've very much been looking for something like this. I've read all the comments below and was wondering if this would be the same or similar classes my Diocese would offer? I am Roman Catholic and wasn't sure if Catholic theology was Catholic theology. I've read through St. Matthew's about us page and they do a good job explaining some difference from Roman Catholic to ECC. I see a couple differences of hand; ECC does not affirm the Pope is infallible, and priest can be female, married or other. Does this come through in the videos? Will there be teachings that I may not follow? I hope that makes sense .

One thing to note about sexuality... God does not make sin. That's a mechanical fact about God. If you're partaking in Sin, then it's by choice. In fact, sin is a choice against God. If you have a sexuality that goes 'against' the law of God, then you've chosen incorrectly. With all things, do with love. I hope that these words may have helped someone. Not by my doing but by His doing.

PLEASE READ VERY CAREFULLY AS IF YOUR ETERNAL “LIFE” DEPENDED ON IT In the Book of Hebrews Chapter 10, in context, the author was talking to “baptized” Christians (Hebrews 10:22) telling them to not be “neglecting to meet together” in “the Church” - being the ONE HOLY CATHOLIC AND APOSTOLIC CHURCH. Why “the Church”??? ***Hebrews 10:26-29 “For IF WE SIN DELIBERATELY after receiving knowledge of the truth, THERE NO LONGER REMAINS A SACRIFICE FOR SINS, BUT A FEARFUL PROSPECT OF JUDGMENT, AND A FURY OF FIRE WHICH WILL CONSUME THE ADVERSARIES………..HOW MUCH MORE PUNISHMENT DO YOU THINK WILL BE DESERVED BY THE MAN WHO HAS SPURNED THE SON OF GOD, AND PROFANED THE BLOOD OF THE COVENANT BY WHICH HE HAS SANCTIFIED, AND OUTRAGED THE SPIRIT OF GRACE”.*** What does Sacred Scriptures clearly say “IF WE SIN DELIBERATELY” or willfully break any of the commandments whether the old (10 Commandments) or NEW (Laws of LOVE or refusing to LOVE as Christ commands per John 13:34)??? If “THERE NO LONGER REMAINS A SACRIFICE FOR SINS, BUT A FEARFUL PROSPECT OF JUDGMENT”, then how does one obtain reconciliation with GOD again??? We must examine the old covenant to fully understand the NEW COVENANT. In Leviticus 5:5-6 and Numbers 5:5-9 we understand what an old covenant Jew had to do to receive GOD's forgiveness. Additionally, GOD in the Books of Leviticus and Numbers any time personal “sin” is even mentioned you will read over and over again “THUS THE PRIEST SHALL MAKE ATONEMENT FOR A MAN’S SINS AND IT WILL BE FORGIVEN” (Lev 4:20, 4:26, 4:31,4:35, 5:6, 5:10, 5:13, 5:16, 5:18, 6:7, 7:7, 12:8, 14:18, 14:19, 14:20, 14:29, 14:31, 15:15, 15:30, 16:32, 16:33, 19:22 Num. 6:11,15:25, and 15:28). In the old covenant, GOD clearly uses ordained “men”, the Leviticus Priesthood, to administer His forgiveness. Now, does GOD keep His WORD and covenant promises??? GOD promises to have a perpetual priesthood per His covenant in Numbers 25:12-13 and Malachi 2:4-7 and has WORDS of “forever” in Exodus 29:7-9, 40:15, and 1 Chronicles 23:13. Then, GOD promises to have a perpetual priesthood in Jeremiah 33:14-22 NEW COVENANT PROPHECY. And, in context of “gathering the nations” in Isaiah 66:18 GOD states in Isaiah 66:21 “some of them also I will take for priests”, meaning no longer based on Levi tribal lineage in the NEW COVENANT. In John Chapter 13, we see Jesus Christ fulfilling His Father’s Levi Covenant promise and Malachi 3:3 prophecy, when He sits down in the upper room “purifying” the NEW COVENANT PRIESTHOOD with a “washing”. This “washing” was a “forever” priestly liturgical GOD command in Exodus 30:21- in order to perform any altar work or sacrifice. What “same” power does the Son of GOD give to His ONE and ONLY established Church or “the Church” per Matthew 16:19, 18:18 and specifically explained to the NEW COVENANT PRIESTHOOD by Jesus in John 20:21-23??? In 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 St. Paul describes what Jesus Christ did was He “GAVE US THE MINISTRY OF RECONCILIATION” and concluded “SO WE ARE AMBASSADORS FOR CHRIST”. An “ambassador” wields what kind of power as an “official representative” of Christ or more specifically explained in “the Church” as “persona Christi”??? Please come or return to your real home and be “reconciled” to “the Church” HIS ONE BODY (Ephesians 4:4-6). What did Jesus Christ create, pray for in John 17:21-23 and die for??? If you really LOVE Jesus Christ, then you will respond to His prayer and join the “ONENESS” that He created. The “Lamb of GOD” wants to unite with you in the NEW COVENANT PASSOVER (Luke 22:19) in His ONE and ONLY established Church, so we all can be “perfectly ONE”. May GOD richly bless you on your journey.

@@mikemitchell2478 Interesting I had not heard of this Church before this discussion. Do you guys consider the pope as your Catholicism's top bishop, or do you have your own like the Coptics (from what I understand of them), or have none like Protestants but are dogmatically in tune with Roman Catholics? I am Roman Catholic myself and I've encountered other non-Roman Catholics, but have had little opportunity to break bread with them and see their viewpoints

Hi Matthew, and thanks for writing. While the Ecumenical Catholic Communion and Saint Matthew ECC Church recognize the Pope as the Bishop of Rome and first among equals, he is not "our Bishop". We do highly regard the position and pray for him often in our liturgy along with our ECC Bishops. But that's it. The ECC does not have a "Pope" type of a leader. The ECC has what is called a "Presiding Bishop" but he/she acts mostly as a Central Executive Officer. The ECC is rare among Catholic traditions, I think, as it is governed by a constitution and process rather than an hierarchical system. Like many non-Roman Catholics we trace our legitimacy and apostolic succession through the Old Catholic Church and the associated Declaration of Ultretch. That split was created in 1870 with the Pope's Infallibility doctrine. Lots to talk about and I'd be happy to "break bread" with you and discuss further. In the meantime I invite you to visit our web site at saint-matthew.org/

@@mikemitchell2478 this is so interesting, I’ve also never heard of the ECC. Am I right in understanding (from your comment) that you have female priests? In teaching are you closer to Roman Catholicism or eg Church of England?

@@gemfem7059 Hi there. Yes, the ECC affirms the call of God to the clergy regardless of gender, marital status, etc. In fact we not only have female priests, but bishops as well! Invention of Christianity? Ok.. Heard enough..
@anneharper7108

Christianity was a movement invented in order to channel and group together the teachings of Christ. School was invented to teach math and english and so on, but this does not make schools fake. It’s more about identifying that Christianity was a community created specifically for the teachings of Christ

Bob, thanks for visiting the site. If you continue to view the videos, you will see that this is, indeed, Catholic theology. You can skip to session 33 for the exact connection to the historic Catholic church. The Ecumenical Catholic Communion is not, however, in formal communion with Rome. To understand the differences, I would invite you to view "Distinctive Teachings of the ECC" at www.saint-matthew.org/about/distinctives.php#
