In Session 2 of al-Maqasid’s April 2021 retreat titled, 'On Creed: A Study of Book 2 of the Ihya' 'Ulum al-Din,' Ustadh Amjad Tarsin discusses the virtues of certitude, ways to strengthen certitude, and the levels of certitude. He quotes extensively from Imam al-Haddad, who captures the quintessence of Imam al-Ghazali’s message in a simple and accessible manner. Proofs from the Qur’an, stories of the pious, and Ustadh Amjad’s own personal reflections are also provided.

Three essential ways to strengthen certitude: 1. Listen attentively to verses and hadiths of Allah and reflect on His attributes, Study the story of the Prophets 2. Observe the creation of Allah in the Heavens and the Earth 3. Behave according to what you believe inwardly and outwardly to the best of your ability Qur'an is not something that you go through like a book, it should have effect on your heart. Believers have 3 degrees of certitude- 1. Firm belief but having possibility of going doubtful under circumstances- Iman 2. Belief is so firm that the opposite does not seem possible and where the unseen becomes the seen 3. Certitude of the Prophets and Siddiqeen Books: Riyad As Salihin, Book of Remembrance, The 40 Hadiths.
