The overhead shots make it look like you lose a bit of ground as you move back foot and reach for the V handle prior to tacking . Is this correct and something you do to build speed/get the mast upright prior to tacking? Or just an illusion of the camera angle? As a pre-switcher this inspires me to step things up a bit!

Hi. I think its more of a camera angle thing. What is happening is the angle changes as I straighten up when getting my back foot out of the strap

Nice board design, looks about negative 15-20l. Now that the regatta is over what do you consider the most practical volume for a raceboard? Also has anyone managed to get a foiling tack with footswitch mid tack like for kiting. Surely that will shave a second or so off the transition. I am trying and failing!!

Hello Gunnar, happy new year !!! whats the distance you keep between the main strut and the end of triangle for your harness rope?
@Ahjsport3 жыл бұрын
Awesome great stylish 👌👌 🤙🤙 Do you know your speed? I love your tacks - I just learned the tack, but do the foot shift before the tack…..is it much harder to do the foot shift afterwards? Like you do it .Should you do it more aggressively?
@GunnarBiniasch3 жыл бұрын
The speeds in that session where 20 Knots Upwind, 26 knots downwind both at maximum angles. The tack the way I do it is not really harder. But it has the advantage that you do not loose as much space downwind . You should always push into the Tack hard, no matter which technique you use. This way you will have more glide and stability to finish the move.

Thanks for the video. Any idea of Vmax on upwind and downwind courses?

@@raphmermontagne give us some time. The sport is only 2 years old. My best VMAX on a small foil winging is 36 knots. We will get faster

Hi again. Are you using this size of board in all flat water (upwind & downwind) conditions with different sizes of foil / wings depending on how much wind ? Best regards, Anders

Thanks for the video Gunnar. I have been a long time follower of yours since arcusers. I see you have been using the Nova wings for a while now and would appreciate your opinion on them.
@GunnarBiniasch3 жыл бұрын
I am probably the wrong person to ask. The Nova was pretty much everything I asked for. It has a lot of range, especially in the high end. Y Handles work perfectly and are a must for me ( I never use the front handles on my Novas). They are heavier than some wings, but they can take a beating. Also thanks to the way the bladders are connected inside there are no issues with the bladders folding in and herniating when being pumped up. The windows also work passively. So I am very happy with them.

What GoPro did you use for this footage?

Nice clip Gunnar :) What cam did you use ? GoPro? I am looking forward for the new DJI action 2 that has the smallest form factor of all action cams and weighs only 64g. My Flymount is ready for the first session. Unfortunately the maximum diameter (fully opened lock) of the flymount is way to small to attach it to bigger front tubes like on my Duotone Slick 5.5 Maybe they are going to release a bigger version too...

Thanks for showing this. Do you feel the flymount fixed on the wing? Does the wing get a bit out of balance? I have the original flymount for windsurfing and its a bit clunky and heavy. If I imagine that weight on the wing tip it will unbalance the wing. Keep up the interesting video content!
@GunnarBiniasch3 жыл бұрын
@av17nash it actually did not feel bad. In these winds I really did not feel a noticeable difference. The Aero is pretty light. I had more issues with the Skymount
@avinashbikha3 жыл бұрын
@@GunnarBiniasch thanks for the swift response! Now I am curious: for example what kind of issues with the Skymount (that the Flymount didnt give)? I wonder if I could make my own by taking a pvc pipe, cutting a C shape piece out of it, layering it with rubber on the inside and attach to wing (fixed when wing inflated). I might stick 2 floaties on it. Could it be that simple? Or would that just replicate a Skymount with same issues? The Flymount has adjustable grab-pressure.. maybe that fixed some of the issues you had with Skymount.. Tks once again and enjoy travels and winging!
@GunnarBiniasch3 жыл бұрын
@@avinashbikha well the Skymount is pretty heavy so once you add the camera weight it is really noticeable and the wing drops to one side a lot especially in light wind.
