The original sounds like the beginning or the peak of a villain arc. This sounds like the aftermath or the latter part of the arc; where they're pondering to themselves "Is this worth it? Even if it isn't, what is done can't be undone... all I can do is move forward." and so they desperately attempt to justify their actions to help them cope with the internal guilt of their actions. The parts where he raises his voice sounds like the villain yelling at themselves to insist that they shouldn't feel any remorse and they have to just keep pushing.

This version feels like if midnight was a story, even after they've gone through triumph and healing in songs like "Stitch Me Up" the final chapter of Midnight starts with a sad reminder of where it all started.
