Cody is one of the very few people who can pull off that aggressive tone without just full on screaming (to see what Im talking about, go to his "Trouble"/"I Knew You Were Trouble" cover and listen at the beginning for when he says "you took a step back"). Vocal moments that really stand out for me in this song is in the second half of the bridge. You can really hear the fire in his voice. In previous songs, I really likes how he sounded in the first verse of Swan Song, where he says "draw the curtains, take the stage... Smoke and mirrors underway!" Something about that always stood out to me and it's hard to put into words how his voice sounds so good. He has even said recently that vocals didnt come very easily to him, which makes the fact of the matter even more impressive. TLDR: Cody is absolutely amazing at controlling his tone and whether or not he sounds aggressive in between lyrics and thats what I like so much about his vocals 👀

Let me take the things I can get from this. The crowd represents the horrible kids (their E.P. back in 2010) that could possibly be wolves(wolf) in sheep's clothing (a song from Duality) due to them trying to kill Cody under the pool when earlier you can see them smiling at Cody. The underwater can be a reference to Something New's music video (where they performed under the pool). The black eyeliners can be a reference to their angsty era back in Cinematics (Swan Song is a good example). The background of where they play instruments looks reminiscent of Hypnotized's music video. Looking at this song's name: Killer in The Mirror, remember in Hypnotized when Cody was facing a mirror while he talks about that someone spewing bullshit? Seeing that the album the song came from is from Upside Down, the mirror could possible be the *upside down* world, Cody's conversing to that *hidden man* from the other side of the mirror and we're at the same side where Cody is. Imagine a large mirror on the ceiling. If you were to look up, you can see yourself standing on the floor whilst looking up as well. Now consider that as if we're in the movie Upside Down. The reflection's floor would be your ceiling, while your floor would the reflection's ceiling. That's how Upside Down's album looks like. Remember Upside Down's album cover where there's a couch that's perpendicular to our field of view? Since we're in the same side as Set It Off, the couch is empty. Now what if I tell you that if you look at Killer in the Mirror's album cover and then back to Upside Down's, it seems like they're sitting on the couch, but because we're from the upside down where Set It Off was before, we weren't able to see them. I'm starting to think that this is the non-upside down Set It Off. The Set It Off from 2010 with Breathe In, Breathe Out; the Set It Off from I'll Sleep When I'm Dead; the Set It Off that we knew right before Pop went in that pulled us into the upside down. Now for the logo, let's assume both sides (Upside Down SIO and Killer in the Mirror SIO) are standing from the each tip of the diamond (top and bottom). Because the tips are now together forming an hourglass, the Set It Off that we're seeing now is the Set It Off from before and Set It Off from the present. 1+1=2 There's no ground to stand on, there's no ceiling to look up at, because we're standing in mid-air. That explains why the music video looks rather spaceous and free. Goodness. This is just fucking magnificent.

As a filmmaker, I can say this music video is a true piece of art. I love how it hits when you watch it for the first time and still after I don't know how many re-watches it creates a really powerful atmosphere. Great storytelling, very nice visual concept and I really like the simplicity of it all; shows that you don't need the big shiny budget to create something truly awesome 👍 Usually, I'm not that big a fan of music videos as they often seem too artificial, but this one I absolutely am in love with. One very minor thing that would have been cool, if the part playing "in the mirror" (when Cody first joins the band until they emerge from the pool) would have been mirrored - but that's just a thought that would have been interesting to pursue. In summary, huge shoutout to everyone involved in the making of this video 👏
