Equal Sets Two sets are considered equal if and only if they contain exactly the same elements. In other words, every element in one set must also be in the other set, and vice versa. Example: Set A = {1, 2, 3} Set B = {3, 2, 1} Since both sets contain the elements 1, 2, and 3, they are equal sets. The order of elements doesn't matter in sets. Equivalent Sets Two sets are considered equivalent if they have the same number of elements. This doesn't necessarily mean they contain the same elements, but simply that their cardinalities (sizes) are equal. Example: Set C = {a, b, c} Set D = {x, y, z} Both sets have 3 elements, so they are equivalent sets. However, they are not equal sets because they contain different elements.

Ma'am u said opposite things about equal sets and equivalent sets. U said for equal sets, no. of elements has to be the same in either sets. On the other hand u said for equivalent sets, exact elements have to be present in either sets. However, with all due respect Ma'am Equal sets are those which would have exactly same elements e.g. A={1 2 3}, B={2 3 1}. Equivalent sets are those which would have same no. of elements e.g. A={1 3 5} B={2 4 6}. Equal sets are always equivalent.
