This was hugely helpful in regards to shooting in Slow motion in ACVHD rather than MP4 - great to see that there are practical ways around it!

MP4 on the C100 Mark II is capable of stepping up to 35mbps compared to AVCHD’s limit of 28mbps. To obtain the highest image quality then I shoot in MP4. Also, AVCHD is compressed into one file or folder and if the folder wrapper becomes damaged you lose all of the 'takes' whereas each MP4 'take; is a file. In my experience, MP4 shoots better (ex sound).

When I select 23.98 I have stuttering image. What am I doing wrong? Or is it possible that my camera is broken? At 60fps I have no problem at all. Works perfectly. thanks for your helpful answer.

Yeah I'm still confused on this one as well. I was reading some forums and most of them pointed to MP4 being the best. So I'm not sure what version is the least compressed? She mentioned MP4 is more compressed. Are there any facts online that say what one is best?

@@EvelynAndEleanor Thanks for the video, excellent! Use AVCHD if Audio is a Priority The audio in the AVCHD codec is recorded in a lossless audio format - Linear PCM. Think of it as the audio equivalent of shooting RAW - you have a lot more room to push it in post, and the inherent quality is much higher because you are keeping every ounce of information. MP4, on the other hand, is compressing it all into AAC format, best known as the codec of choice for iTunes. Non-audiophiles probably can’t tell the difference, and for web-exclusive content the difference is probably negligible. But the quality loss is real, and if that concerns you then MP4 is probably not the right codec choice.

@@jasmurrell1 Thanks that explains exactly what I needed. I've stuck with MP4 for now because I like the way the camera manages the file names and keeps everything in order. AVCHD seems to be a pain to sort and work with.

Hi, nice review. But in the C100 mark ii, actually its the AVCHD that is more compressed than the mp4! The avchd tops at 28mbps, while MP4 goes all the way to 35mbps... check it out

MP4 is way too compressed. I might as well use a t3i if I use this format.

if you change the shutter from the speeds to shutter angle and keep it at 180 degrees then you don't have to worry about switching shutter when changing frame rates.

Was about to sell mine because of all the Blackmagic Pocket Hype. But 4K is so overrated, and most clients want deliverables at 1080 or even 720! C100 m2 gets it DONE!

We've had a Pocket 4K since the day they started shipping it. Great camera, but we recently bought a C100 Mark II. They are two completely different types of cameras. We like them both.

Hi Stephanie, do you use internal recording or external? Do you know if there is a big difference between them based on the codec? Because while doing internal recording my eos C100 II sometimes has some jaggies, pulsing or moiré especially when shooting fences, sticks and etc. I don’t know if I do something wrong or the item I bought has some issues itself but I am not a 100% happy with my purchase. Do you have any ideas? Thank you

Good video, I have 2 questions ... What do you think about the slow & fast motion mode? What is not supposed to be the best mode for slow motion? I'm a bit confused with using that option. My other question is why do not you use 28 Mbps LPCM? instead of 24 LPCM? Thanks

Strangely, it disables some of the frame rates if you pick the higher bitrate, like the 23.976fps selection. If you shoot in one of the other supported framerates, you can choose the higher 28 option.
