Wow. Thank you so much for sharing your journal. You can’t possible know how freeing this experience has been for me in my journey. I have a very similar sized journal that has ‘stuff’ started in it. I didn’t think I was on the right track. Art journaling goes deeper than that tho. No one can understand the personal feelings inside when ‘stuff’ is added to a page and marks and scribbles and textures are added. And no one needs to understand. I feel better about my current journal. I just need to follow my own feelings.

My ego suggested it meant people who couldn't make art could at least make marks. Love your journal! It’s awesome how each page creates a different feeling. I would find it difficult to create a page without text but I will try to challenge myself to do that for at least a few page spreads and will work on mark making too! Hi Tina. A delayed response. I work both in handmade journals as well as store-bought journals. This one is from Strathmore and it has hot press watercolor pages.

Hey Angel. The trick for me is that I use PaperArtsy Chalk Acrylic paints in all my books. They have a matter finish, keep the pages from sticking together, and allow me to use any pen. But in general I use Signo pens - Uniball, Vision, or Air. They are not perfect but I find they work well over just about any paint. Hope that helps!

I enjoyed your walk through. The pages were unique and inspiring in a way. That said, I just don't "get " collage. It's always been a bit baffling to me, as has abstract art, and some forms of impressionism. Forgive, I don't see emotion therein. I really do like it even if it doesn't make sense to me.

Thanks for the comment Bee. Different types of art resonate with different people. And there are many who don't feel much when looking at abstract art. One of the reasons I like it is because it allows people to have their own personal reaction to it and interpretation of it!
