That's years after every critic and detractor has accused him of plagiarizing that show for his three animated family shows (though American Dad is only like The Simpsons when Mike Scully took over between seasons 9 to 12, which is when a lot of people claim that the show was going downhill. Me, I think season 13 was the downward spiral).

The first 6 or 7 seasons of American Dad is such an absolutely perfect time capsule of post-9/11 American life. The paranoia and jingoism is impossible to describe to anyone who didn't live through it. Despite being satirical and deliberately over-the-top, American Dad is the best approximation to what it was actually like.

@Quag It may not be as big as it was in its first 10-15 seasons, and they seem to be taking longer and longer breaks, which is probably why the hype for the show is dying out. But Trey and Matt are still comedy geniuses especially when it comes to social and political commentary. I think they might be getting a bit burnt out on South Park, hence the whole #cancelsouthpark "joke". And who wouldn't after 20+ seasons of running the same show. They are still very much hands on creators of every episode, they still write every script, create storyboards, direct animation, and do 90% of the voices (in under a week per episode). Which is why it's still very funny, it just evolved cause Trey and Matt are just like any other human being, they grow up, change their opinions and their view on life, try new things and so on.

Nothing but the utmost respect for Seth. Dude was working working working before given his own adult animated show and the luck of the universe had it pop off the way it did before the ease of the internet. Then since, has just stuck to his love of the craft and come out on top time and time again. You can always feel the love behind everything he backs, and you can relate to him as that one guy that just gets it. Great artist and lovely human.

Both Family Guy and American Dad haven't been particularly good lately - but I still love them both to death. Always have it running off to the side while I'm working. So many great spoofs of classic 80s television, film, and other pop-culture references. Then you have all the great musical numbers that are either fun parodies themselves - or maybe even fully original songs like "Down Syndrome Girl." Futurama is still king to me - but I'll always sit back and enjoy an episode of FG or American Dad too

It's crazy. If you're not into doing research, you'd never really see Seth's intelligent side. The guys smart, and he's actually had a hand in alot of 90s cartoons, not only that but he's a decent actor and he's really funny. But people who never research people behind certain shows or movies (Family Guy, American Dad, Ted 1 & 2, AMWTDITWW, etc) would think he was just this goofy, over the top, dirty minded comedian. When he is really an artist. There's a reason Family Guy and American Dad have lasted 20 years+.(even if the quality of jokes has gone down).

It doesnt have that over the top humor, it can goofy, it can be serious, it can be thought-provoking, I think it really captures the essence of what a space adventure show should be. Seth understands the human condition at a higher level then most people and it shows in his characters. He sees what can be considered as small quirks and helps them to shine. He has tacked many different scenarios within all his shows. His shows are also very deep if you look behind the comedy, there are lots of serious topics that pop up and his shows show different ways to tackle those topics in both positive and negative matters.

Let's be honest here everyone: Family Guy changed television and the whole course of cartoons and general everyday television all together. Pushing the boundaries and developing content in which wasn't ever done such as every episode flashbacks, cartoon to real people cutscenes, killing 4th and 5th walls, aiming at the whole history of television, Family Guy pushed every single border you can think of and made it hilarious. The spell Family Guy has on television and entertainment fans will be forever and ever. The modern Simpson's, even Matt Groening acknowledged that Family Guy is one of the greatest. We own our modern sarcasms and societal comedy to shows like this.
