Nice video. I own a b15 I also had sitting for 8 months, and she started right up after a charge. The fuel tank is leaking/ seeping slightly, however after I tried fixed her up for a work dd. Has some rust which is the reason for the tank. Now I have to source some replacement parts, cause I don’t want to give up on her yet. Mine is not close to the one you own and got underneath, but you have to love the b15s

I have been enjoying all these videos a lot. I actually just watched one from four years ago when you were putting a QR25 into one of the white spec Vs. I love learning new things about my car and this channel provides a lot of knowledge. Also I'm sure this is a dumb question since it's probably a Google search away, but what aftermarket grill is that on the Sentra? It looks good

I appreciate the compliment! It's cool you went down the rabbit hole of old Sentra videos lol. As far as the grille on the white Spec V I believe it is factory it just doesn't have an emblem anymore.

It sure is a whole Lotta work to put an sr in a spec v. Best of luck. If you decide to scrap the idea. I highly suggest a gen 2 qr. For the cost of the 6 speed swap you could cover most of the gen 2. And the 6 spd works directly.

I thought about that for a while, but never figured out a way to make the stock dash work since the ECUs aren't compatible and a gen 1 ECU can't run a gen 2 motor, but it's still not off the table completely as an option.

How did you get the crank trigger to work being that the trigger wheel on the crank is inverted on the 07+ compared to the 02-06 motors?

@@HardAngle inverter plugs I got from nisformance. I've since swapped to standalone and no longer need them.

Good to know! All the info I could find was from 15 year old forums and the info was very inconsistent. The 2nd gen QR swap is something I've always been interested in for the stronger bottom end, higher rev range and the fully counterbalanced crank, since I want to start racing the Silver 04 Spec V in the future the 2nd gen QR swap is very intriguing for that purpose. As long as I can keep the gen 1 intake so it makes the induction noise it makes when the butterflies open at 5k just becuase I like it. LOL

That gray Sentra looks like it was bathed in salt baths ....geesh! I need to start working on my Spec like you do man so I'll know how to tear down the engine if needed.

That car came from a Scranton PA scrap yard and even when I picked it up it was still covered in salt even after sitting in a wrecker yard and getting rained on for who knows how long. I think Sentras are a great car to start working on because they are simple, but not so simple that you won't be able to use the knowledge you gain on a more modern car as well, I love em!

@@HardAngle I agree, they are pretty simple considering they really aren't that old. I'm about to install a turbo on mine and may consider tuning it myself as well via UpRev. In fact I prob need to find a donor as well considering parts are getting hard to come by now...especially things like sunroof motors

Yes! Sunroof motors that aren't already broken are so hard to find. Super cool you're going turbo, hopefully you make some videos on it!

@Hard Angle the 02 Sentra what did you need to swap the sr in? And did you use a sr20 harness nd computer?

I am using a SR20 ecu, engine harness and body harness from an 01 Sentra SE 2.0, getting ready to put the engine in now, so what else I'll need to adapt will be seen in the next video. Even I don't fully know just yet.

@@HardAngle yeah me too even sometimes on Nissan form miss lead information. Learning as i go.. Heard they say you have to change crossmember so you might need everything from a 2.0 SE Sentra. Waiting for the ur next videos. Shouldn’t be any problem dropping it in 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@sniperworkssniperbay3077 The crossmembers look to be the same but I kept the mounts that mount from the block to the cross member, hopefully that does the trick.

@@sniperworkssniperbay3077 After getting it bolted in the crossmembers were definitely different. I had to custom fit the rear engine mount and custom fabbed both mounts on the frame rails, not sure how different the SR20DET harness will be since it will be for a different car, pulsar or something similar, I would speculate the harness that comes with the engine won't work but the stock B15 SR harness and ecu with a flash may be able to handle it just fine, but since I haven't done it with a DET yet the internet will know more than me.

I need to swap the 1.8 engine....does the 2.0 bolt on or do I need a kit? Mine has an auto transmission. it's an 05 1.8 special edition (whatever that means)

I'm not really familiar with the mounting points on the 1.8, I don't want to give you any information that might be incorrect. So far I've had to custom make almost every mount for the 2.0 swap.

@@HardAngle ok. Got it. I was able to find another 1.8 engine to avoid that. The only engine available locally was a 2.0 and did not want to commit to that without knowing

Would a 2020 sentra 2.0 engine fit in a 2015 nissan sentra with a 1.8 engine?

Anything is possible if you want to try hard enough, with that being said, the 2020 is a b18 chassis and the 2015 is a b17 chassis so they may have vastly different engine mounting points BUT they 2.0 from the 2020 is an MR20 and the 2015 1.8 is also an MR series engine just a 1.8 liter version so maybe they would have similar mounts? Now, getting all the electronics working is another story entirely.

I see you live in Pennsylvania. I currently building 03 it got hit rear driver side quarter panel. Seeing hard to find this panel is a project car building with my son. Teaching him the basic auto and body repair. Looking for parts. If know anyone.. thanks

Local junkyards are a great place to look, show up with a cordless grinder and a cutoff wheel and find a rust free car and cut off what you need. All the B15 quarters are the same so trim is irrelevant. Quarter panel replacements are pretty involved but many have done it. Good luck to you and your son, glad to hear you are passing on the torch, nothing teaches valuing what you have like having to build it yourself

Have to mount the trans and motor together and roughly bolt it in and make sure all the mounts line up where they should, after that, just a few new parts for the engine then get it in and install the wiring harness, and install the shifter from the SE 2.0
