We have cloth shop and I can pinpoint the exact reason why they are not able to sell their inventory and making losses. The moment they said they have 8 waist sizes and 3 height sizes which gives the combination of 24 different sizes. Having 24 different sizes to choose from is quite attractive from the buyers point of view but it is nightmare for the seller. Explaining below, 1.Remember, 3 times the inventory needs to be stocked up to serve the same set of customers, it means the amount of business remains same while the working capital investment is 3 times, a big no no. 2.While not many might agree but having too many choices for customers encourages returning/exchanging the goods to to get the best fitting size. This increases the delivery charges by 3 times. 3. As a company manufacturing becomes difficult. Stock clearance takes longer time and manufacturers like to take the order in bulk. But with these many sizes it is easier to land in situation where one of your popular size is sold out and others as sitting as is and you don’t have money to order the sold out size.

Yeah because when she says 'isme meri expertise nahi hai' she means it. Obviously uski family pharma industry background se hai including her uska core business point in Pharma hai. Besides if she sees a company with good revenue but different field of business industries doesn't matter, that is she does have multiple contacts and power over the market which she can use on necessary promising businesses.(My description could be wrong since Im not from business background and I'm an engineering student, but just few things I've noticed about Namita)

To be really honest garments buisness is one of the hardest buisness to do. 1. You have to have wide range of operations to sell just 1 item. 2. Dead stock. Dead stock is the biggest challenge in this business and if you don't clear that it's gonna sink your business 3. Vendor credits. It's a capital intensive buisness. The retailers work on credit model which raises the concern for cashflow 4. You never know what customer will like and when the trend will change Telling these from my own experience from failed garments startup

True. I can relate. Not everyone can be successful in clothing business. The business can go stagnant. I am from a small town. I started a kidswear clothing store before lockdown. It was going quite good but only on festivals. Rest of the year the sale was not that good. All in all the business was not sustainable. But after lockdown the business went down. Plus the unsold items were piling up. I am unable to clear the unsold stocks. Thinking of selling online or offline on heavy discount just to clear the stock.

Stores like Amazon do not bear the cost of logistics. It goes from the pocket of the sellers. In my shop itself I have seen so many customers come back to exchange the item because size doesn't fit or straight away return the item for money. I know I have to face the same when selling online.

I realise that they don’t have a hunger to sell their products. They are too relaxed . Moreover, I realise that Piyush was right , a brand needs to have a vision and thought process . They started with a good vision of ‘ relaxed women ‘but did not not build their brand on their vision . They got lost somewhere. With 50 lakhs sale, with no repeat customers 😮, something is fundamentally wrong somewhere. That entire 10cr which they raised was given to meta 😢.
