since max voltage input is rated @ 60 volts DC....would this unit blow a fuse immediately if I tried to feed it 70 volts DC or does the unit have some leeway in regards to handling higher input voltages ? Ty

your converter can be damage . the fuse will not help

step-up it is ... I have one but I use it from 12V input 15A and I am getting up 55V 3A to charge 4 batteries all the time 24/24h as long there is electricity available in the 12V charger input.

I have this converter. but a different controller. 15A is max as input. with range from 10V to 60V. better not pass input as 50v. and you can get v-out starting from the same input volt up to 120v. the efficiency is not great because in high current taken from the input, the efficiency can get down to 60%, and in 120V output, I did not get more than 1.38A with 120V efficiency gets down to 60%..... this converter is good for input 12V 15A and you can get 55v 3A for charging 4 battery safety with no need to do anything's else

it's a step-up converter. you can get a voltage higher than the solar panel. but not lower. it can work but I do not recommend it. use it for input 12V 15A and output 55v 3A for charging 4 batteries safety all times 24/24h 7/7 weeks. (this inverter is good for charging battery's from 12v input )
