when naomi osaka (her japanese language isn't that fluent)decided to represent japan instead of usa in tennis, i did not see that many negative comments. if gu were half japanese and represents japan, there would be no controversy. therefore it is all politics. love from canada.

It would be a big controversy if her father was Chinese and her mother was Japanese and she represented Japan. After the Chinese gov't spent all that money on her training and live most of her life in China.
雙重国籍必然存在双重效忠的矛盾,能說:《倘中美開戰時,在中國幫中國,在美國幫美國嗎?》 根据美国入籍文件N400:原文【I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen. that I will support and defend the Constitution and law of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic.】【本人郑重宣誓,我绝对和完全放弃对任何外国王子、君主、国家或主权的所有效忠和忠诚,我之前是其臣民或公民。我将拥护和捍卫美国的宪法和法律,宪法和法律,反对所有国内外的敌人。】递交文件后,面试时,考官还会问:『如果美国和你原籍国开战时;你帮谁?』面对违背入籍他国誓言,應如何处理?
she is an inspiration to so many girls in the world, especially for Chinese girls. I am really proud of her. She is highly talented, and doing things with a cause. I wish her all the best in the future. Way to go Eileen!
China does not recognize dual nationality, and one of them must renounce the nationality of other countries. Therefore, there is no debate about whether Gu is Chinese or American. Don't mislead the audience and confuse the audience.
It is that simple: She is an American citizen whom The Chinese government gave her a passport to represent China. The Chinese government did not bend the rule that one has only one nationality. They just considered that in this case when they gave her the passport she was a minor and had not reached the legal age to declare her nationality.

Chinese government can do anything that they want as long as this person is talented and can help China 🇨🇳 shine ✨! Average normal people only can choose one nationality in China 🇨🇳 because they are just average and normal! As simple as that! China will always be 🇨🇳 China!
