Fun fact about these songs, Chihiro Aoki actually composed Unwavering Belief first despite it being the final boss theme of the game, then later remixed and sampled it to make Dig in your Heels for an earlier fight against the same character.

Yakuza music needs more recognition. There are about 10 composers working on each entry (some are permanent, some invited and therefore change from game to game). And almost every game in this franchise has so many gems and bangers. But unfortunately this series is barely being mentioned at all when some casual crowd talks VGM (and when it is being mentioned, it’s just karaoke songs usually, not the score itself)

If you played lost judgement and judgement, you will understand why the song was named "unwavering belief" and how it was composed as it is, the main protagonist Takayuki Yagami and the final boss (not the main antagonist, actually) Jun Kuwana are the two sides of the same coin, both desperately seeking the truth and justice with their unwavering beliefs; one has an authority and enforces the law and the other was a victim of a system and chose dirty deeds, both men even went far into helping each other but only to be struck down by each others unwavering beliefs, there! Unwavering belief is basically this; The main protagonist of the game has a different justice than the owner of this theme. Cuz 1 says killing bullies who drove their victims to suicide is bad while the other says it's justified. You can't really say who's right and who's wrong.
@tentenone82922 жыл бұрын
Both beliefs collide and only the most unwavering comes out in the top.
@equest511 Жыл бұрын
That's not really the correct wording. One believes that taking 'UNJUST REVENGE' on bullies (high school students specifically) who drove their victims to suicide is wrong, especially when holding it over their heads and blackmailing them their entire lives in order for them fulfilling redemption or even straight up just killing them in the worst way possible. It is the protagonists believe to expose their crimes/sins and hand them over to the nations justice system. The antagonist though believes in killing or making them suffer (depending on the severity of their cases) while manipulating them is the only way to bring justice to all the victims they made suffer and giving their families and friends peace. This theme is basically true justice (according to the law's system) vs true vengeance (against the law's system). That said one of the major points of this confrontation theme is the 'debate' of the failing system of the law. That it would never be sufficient without either rewriting/correcting it or straight up practicing 'cruel' vigilante justice in order to 'set things right'. Both characters have their unwavering believes clashing against one another, for the final time. That what this is about.

Hey there Jesse! Goddamn, I wasn't sure if you were going to like this one but you actually loved it lmao. I know you're Mr. Guitar Man so this EDM kind of boss theme was basically the variety pick for me, so damn, glad you liked it and thank you for reacting to it. Lost judgment is a detective spin-off of the Yakuza series and is made by the same dev team and all, and this song is the theme of an antagonist who could basically be friends with the main character if things turned out differently, but they're forced to beat one other half to death because of their conflicting beliefs. And, while the footage is unofficial, the first part was the fight where "Dig in your Heels" played and the second part were the cutscenes that "Unwavering Belief" synced with! You got most of the experience here lol.

Lost Judgment is the sequel to Judgment, which is a spinoff of the Yakuza franchise. It follows a former criminal defense attorney turned private detective as he gets embroiled in cases that are substantially more involved than they first appear. Dig in Your Heels + Unwavering Belief are both variations on a certain character's theme and plays during fights with him, which happen at certain points in the story. No spoilers, but I can say that as hard as they hit on their own, they're even more powerful in context.
