I am from Germany. I ate my first Whopper at a BK on a US military base. We more or less snuck into the army post to get our Whoppers, BK Broilers, BBQ Bacon Double Cheeseburgers and all the other stuff. Believe me, I have eaten at BK Restaurant in many different countries around the world. No other Burger King could compete with the Burger King at this military post. I am now over 50, the army post is closed, the Americans have left and “my” good old Burger King has been demolished. I still miss these times and these phenomenal Whoppers.

I was a manager at BK back in the 1990s. Around 1998 they changed from the original fries to a "coated" version. They were not great. The 2012-present fries are much better. The Whopper has changed slightly over the years as well. They no longer steam the buns which I think makes them too dry. They also stopped using shredded lettuce, which I miss, but I know some people like giant hunks of lettuce. Pro tip. If you want fresh fries, order them with no salt. They'll have to drop a fresh basket. Then ask for a salt packet.

After they changed them it was never the same. They were like mashed potatoes formed and deep fried to look like fries. Fantastic video!!! I have a BK tip for you. I love the Whopper, but I don’t like the cheese they use at all. I don’t know what they do to it, but melts too easy and it’s more like a sauce. I use my own American cheese and it’s so much better. I’ve even put a couple of slices in a sandwich bag and taken them to the restaurant with me. I recommend that you give it a try whether you pack it yourself to BK like a nut or just add your own cheese at home. If you do it at home, set the cheese out on the counter before you leave the house so it isn’t refrigerator cold when it goes on your burger. I think you will be impressed.

It was Burger King. After little league in the 70's, we'd always go to Burger King. On a Saturday, we'd bug our parents to go to Burger King. And then in High School in the 80's.. the after school hangout was... Burger King. Where did a ton of us get our first jobs? At the Burger King. It was such a huge part of my childhood, that Burger King will always be my favorite fast food spot, and I'm so glad they're getting rid of that 90's early 2000's logo and color scheme garbage, and going back to their 70's designs. My friend worked at a service station next to a location in the 50s. He said he and his wife were barely able to afford rent in FT. Lauderdale and had it not been for Burger King's prices, they would have been forced to go back to their families in Kentucky. They would still eat a Whopper together every so often.

I live just a few miles from this location and visit it often. Their breakfast burrito and hash rounds are awesome!

I'm old enough to remember going to the one in my town back in the early 70's, and it was so good. Cheap and tasty. It's not even close today.

I remember in December, my family and my cousins went to this tree where Santa would light the star on top, and when we were leaving, my dad saw this Burger King and pointed it out to me

The first Burger King I ate at was the first one in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and I believe it looked like this one. I do remember that they had a single order line that went past a large window thru which you could watch the flame broiler at work!

I worked at this location when I was 15! (I had to get a work permit from my High School). Wild times. I remember my Manager, an old Irish guy that would "Irish Ip" his coffee. One day they were going to toss the chicken tenders that had sat too long, and the manager challenged me to eat them all... (I think there were probably 35-45... and they were the old ones they used to sell, the long meaty tenders they initially sold in the 80's, not the chicken fries, nor the tenders they sell today) my stomach nearly exploded. Across the bridge, they had the old Cock Robin Ice Cream factory, as well as an attached Cock Robin restaurant: home of the square ice cream cones, and the one in a million malts. Thanks for the memories.

I just did a road trip down Florida's A1A that runs south on the east coast and came across an original McDonalds sign in Stuart, Florida that read "Speedee Service System" and over 115 Billion sold. I took a picture of it and I posted it on my Road trip to Key West part 2 video @29:10 mark.

Yes, that's one of only 12 left of the original Speedee era signs worldwide. It's awesome!

I have to say, "I am Jealous". Let's face it burgers are not what they used to be these days. You get to travel and eat at the best places and love what you do with the history lessons. The memories that you capture are priceless. Keep up the good work. Awesome Video! tyvm

Emmanuel Lewis was in a Burger King commercial in the early 80s.I used to work at the one in Stuart, FL for two months, then I got transferred to the one in Palm City, FL. I did dining room at both of them. Burger King used to have a salad bar in the late 90s for about a year. Salad bar was discontinued. I worked that on the weekends.Thoses two places aren't there anymore.
