I bolted on real rocks to my climbing wall years back. It's great for not spending a ton of cash on holds. Just had to do some beach combing for good rocks to use. Drilling takes some work, but well worth it for me.

I remember the day when climbing walls were mostly brick (pre bendecrete), then later with some bricks removed and real rock concreted in. Altringham wall had some of them labeled as to where they came from. Chamonix granite etc… go to the Alps, bring back a hold. (Not from a route, obviously!)

Our gym has a lot of holds actually made out of granite that were built by old members to pay off their membership. They're super interesting and we get a lot of fun boulders out of them.

Great route, NatureClimbing are my favourite holds by far. Hadn't much experience with full granite, but their woodies are amazing. For my home gym I've merged their woodies rail L with BeastMaker1000, and the experience is wonderful. Very compact solution, and it does it all (for me), easy assembly and disassembly. I hook BM1000 between two bars, so back space is free and available for extras. I only wish there would be chips/crimp version of the stone holds for added variety. And the smaller ones would definitely compliment my home setup. Hopefully one day they would become available :) Definitely check NC out (they have all the stuff, not only holds, but hangboards as well).

I remember climbing at Glasgow indoor climbing centre when they introduced these plastic holds that felt like slate. Absolutely no friction, so it was all crimp and positive foot holds. Great fun but really hard to climb on

This holds looks awsome. Honestly i hate how gym walls looks, becouse of all those random colors. It's possible to make fun and colorfull walls, but almost always climbing gyms looks like trashcan would explode and everything stick to the walls. And spray walls looks just like a trash can. I wish climbing gyms had toned down, more natural look, and those holds are perfect.

@expectationlost yes! We've been working with a recycled granite from Norway for the past 10 years! It's a leftover material from tunneling projects and operations, that we are lucky to redesign and repurpose :)

just like with the real rock! :) It's definitely not for your every session, but works great for setting 1-2 boulders in a gym, projecting a specific boulders outdoor or for spray walls. For some climbers this will be the first or the only time they will actually try climbing a real rock ;)

Wish more holds where made from recycled materials. I mean I get that once new holds are made they essentially last forever. I see a big marketing ploy for the first big hold company to produce a new range made entirely of recycled plastic from ocean clean up. Get on it kilter.
