Fire Alarm Test #103
This building is one of the oldest in the district. In the original parts it has simplex 4050-80 light plates with 4051 horns. However unfortunately the 4050-80s were all burned out. I plan on trying to fix them next summer. There was an addition to the building at one point that has a 4903-9219 in the hallway and simplex rebranded GX-90 mini horn strobes. The portibles were also later added and the panel was downgraded to a gamewell E3. all original devices remained at least.

I don't usually like to comment anywhere on platforms anymore because the internet is so toxic, But I did want to say that I really enjoy your videos! I accidentally found your videos and was curious enough to watch them, I think it's cool that there is a community for fire alarms and smoke detectors, I never once thought that I'd find myself binge watching these videos in my free time but I am glad to be able to.

When I was doing data collecting for the MDTA, almost every MDTA-owned facility had Gamewell E3's with Gamewell-FCI pulls and L-Series NAs, all of which replaced some older Honeywell-brand devices.

The 4051 horn at 4:23 sounds just like the one that was in my kindergarten classroom. Seeing those 4251-20 pulls with the blank-lens 4050-80s reminds me of how the 1978 buildings at my college were originally configured. But they now just have boring SpectrAlert Advance and L-series horn/strobes, though three of the buildings still have many of the 4251-20 pulls intact.

Also, you mentioned the current Gamewell-FCI fire alarm panel replaced the old one as the result of adding a modular building. When my first elementary (now K-8) school had a modular added in 1996, it initially had its own small ESL fire alarm panel they tied into one of the zones on the main building's Simplex 4208 panel. (The alarm devices in the modular consisted of Wheelock MT-24-LSM horn/strobes, RSG T-bar pulls, and System Sensor and ESL smoke detectors.) But a couple years later when the main building had a Simplex 4004 fire alarm panel installed to support new duct detectors and system monitoring (with the 4208 acting as a slave panel for the existing pull stations and heat detectors and an old ionization smoke detector), they did away with the ESL panel and just wired the modular building to the Simplex 4004. Some time in the mid-to-late 2000s, a Simplex 4010 panel replaced the 4004. But then when the old Simplex 4208 panel began failing and it led to that being gutted and all the old Simplex alarms getting replaced with SpectrAlert Advance horn/strobes, they even replaced the Wheelock MTs in the modular building with Advances! Last I saw five years ago, the 4010 panel was surprisingly still in use, though by now it's possible they replaced it with a Notifier panel (they also installed EST NAC booster panels for all the SpectrAlert Advances).

I'm wondering if those at 7:41 need that nut tightened. 4051s have that familiar nut on the outside of the horn plate.

Interesting system. A lot of people are complaining about the 4051s sounding (which some of them are) but these horns are at least 50 years old. Once the lamps have been changed and the horns adjusted it should work a lot better. Yes, this system could do with being replaced but that costs money.

Looks like there was 4050’s horn only in white when the school was built. Lot of the 4050’s lights aren’t working

They are possibly from the old system but probably more likely that they are used as bells to move classes I’m not sure if that’s what they are but it’s most likely it be just old

When you say you are gonna fix them next summer does that mean the system is being ripped out or are you gonna try to fix all the light plates in the system?
