Aaaaaand this is one of the reasons i gave up on makeup every day. I thought they were the same thing. Im kinda mad at myself for all the setting spray ive ever bought.

once you start getting around your mid 20's, powders start emphasize lines that aren't there and powder gets a lot trickier to use, I started to realize this when I turned 27 that i couldnt use powders to set like I used to when i was 20. i started relying on setting sprays to help keep my makeup in place if you are in your mid/late 20's and realizing this is happening to you, its completely normal! playing with setting sprays and primers might be best

40yo with very dry skin here, and powder is almost unusable for me. I use the tiniest bit right up under my lower lashes to prevent mascara transfer and maybe a little below my blush as a reverse contour. As you age you've gotta start rethinking your makeup entirely. I don't even wear foundation or concealer anymore. My entire routine centers around looking hydrated. Lol

@@krisdianeyep, I’ve given up on under eye concealer as well. I’ve tried a million different kinds but they all emphasize the lines. I just invest in brightening eye creams and overall better skincare products now instead💯

@@suzq2744 exactly! Concealer ages my face by ten years. I wear an illuminator and blush, maybe a green primer on redness if I need it, but nothing under the eyes.

42, and still use setting powder. I have very oily skin, and so my wrinkles are practically non existent. It really depends on your skin type, and how you prep your skin. 😊

@@VintageCharms of course everyone's skin is different! my comment was for people who's skin type has changed from tolerating powders, to not tolerating powders.

I think there are some exceptions when it comes to using poweders. people with dry skin like myself, prefer our makeup without powder and use setting spray to set the face. since our skin doesnt produce as much oil, there isnt a risk really for our makeup to crease - if we use products made for dry skin
@slaybyjess4 ай бұрын
That’s true as well! I’m curious about your under eye area though, doesn’t it crease without powder?
@Juliemarie3114 ай бұрын
I'm 45 with dry skin I've tried several powders and used the smallest amount. I press it in, but several hours later I am showing major wrinkling and dryness. Wrinkling I didn't even know I had!! So I can't use powder, unless it's for pictures or something less than a couple hours. I think it's just cause I'm older and dry. I don't have a problem with my concealer creasing without powder, thankfully. 😌

@@slaybyjess It doesn't! especially if you usw the right concealer. my favorites are nyx bare with me concealer and catrice camouflage

I’ve tried several setting powders, several techniques and setting powder just doesn’t do well on my skin. As soon as I apply powder i can just see it clinging to the dry parts on my face and it just looks horrendous on my under eyes. I have a skin care routine, I moisturize, I’ve done everything possible so I just avoid it. I have extremely dry skin and it just doesn’t seem like I’m able to use it. Does my concealer crease under my eyes? Yeah it does a little but it looks 100% worse when I add powder on top. So I just avoid it over all. It seems to do wonders for other people but I avoid it completely now.
@hannaer25533 ай бұрын
@@slaybyjessMine does. I'm in my 30s and have combination skin with dry spots which really pick up any powder. What I do is use a foundation powder as setting powder, and I only use it under the eyes and around my nose, then i use a setting spray to melt that powder in so it doesn't set in my lines and on my dry patches. It mostly works🤷♀️😅

people really thought they’re the same thing? Powder is for after foundation and concealer to set. Setting spray is pretty much like a top-coat to your makeup, keeping it from breaking down or messing up. how do ppl mix these up

They have similar names. Why is it strange that some people might assume they're used for the same purpose? Kind of snobby to assume people should be able to magically tell the difference.

sharing my experience as somebody who just bought and started using both yes setting powder and setting spray are not interchangeable but setting spray didn't feel like an optional thing to me, whenever I feel my skin is dry I skip the powder and use setting spray which works great, but I know when it'll be too humid here I'm gonna use BOTH setting powder and spray because the spray does make the makeup look more natural and makes it stick to your skin better!

id suggest making sure you do skincare before applying makeup. washing face, applying moisturizers, then a makeup primer. this helps alot. otherwise maybe your foundation and/or powder doesn’t work for your skin ❤️ keep trail and error youll figure out for you

I THINK YOU SHOULD READ ABOUT THAT A BIT MORE. SETTING SPRAY DOES PLAY A ROLE IN EXTENDING THE WEAR OF YOUR MAKEUP. THEY ARE ALMOST THE SAME THING WITH DIFFERENT TEXTURES AND WITH SETTING POWDER MORE MATTE. BUT THE WORD SETTING IS USED AS THE SAME IN BOTH PHRASES. THEY ARE NOT DIFFERENT. THEY WORK SLIGHTLY DIFFERENTLY. I AM TALKING ABOUT WHAT YOU SAID ABOUT THE WORD ‘SETTING’ THAT IT IS DIFFERENT IN BOTH. IT IS NOT.
