Setting Traps and Transferring a Swarm

I found a spot behind my neighbors house. He was complaining of bees stopping his girls from using their pool. I caught 6 swarms there.

Wow! This is really timely. Thank you so very much for making these videos. It's really helped me to gain understanding that I wouldn't have access to otherwise. I'm in my second year of beekeeping. I only have 4 hives with one being a split. Thanks again.

Out if the 8 swarms I caught this year 7 were near a body of water. You might want to keep that in mind when looking for a spot.

I’m right off 268 a stone throw away from you there. I’m a couple years in to beekeeping now with a single hive and I’m queenless. Looking to build a few traps this week and hope I get lucky.

@@josephrawls I want to up vote the low hung traps for convenience, but down vote because most consider higher positioned boxes being better at attracting swarms... In the end it is still your decision, just wanting to chime in... make my voice heard... useless commentary verbiage... nothing about being lazy...

Lester C. Wetherell II 👍 I used to think the same thing about the hight. I was also always told that. This year I put them all low. Built 12 new swarm boxes this year. My plan was hang 10 and have 2 for spares to change out when a swarm moved in. So far I’ve caught 13. I have a few videos posted if would like to watch.

@@josephrawls I am already subscribed to your channel and several dozens of other bee related channels, I just don't often comment. This also seems to be a very prolific year for swarms and lots of drones in hives! Probably something to due with the weather this year, just guessing.

I have some swarm traps set out up here in West Virginia hopefully I will be catching a swarm or two first time I have ever tried to catch swarms I am a new bee keeper.
