Beginner here! What is the difference between the lures and bait and when is the appropriate time to use each one?
@4Swildlife11 күн бұрын
Think of it like this, bait is something that they want to eat and lure would be a scent that raises their curiosity! I will use both sometimes at a set like a dirt hole and then when making a flat set or a compass set I’ll sometimes only use lure like urine and gland scent. No matter what you use don’t over do it. It only takes a small amount or bait or lure to get the job done!

So you don’t use gloves with the sheep’s wool for bait-is that because it has the natural smell to it? If I’m using wool yarn instead should I use a different pair of rubber gloves? Thanks appreciate your detailed videos as I’m just getting into coyote trapping 🐾

I don’t wear gloves only because when baiting I don’t want to get bait on my gloves and then transfer it to my trap. With the trap only being covered by about .5” of dirt the coyote would smell the bait there and dig my trap up. I don’t worry about my scent being transferred to the bait as much as I do the trap becoming contaminated if that makes sense.

@ thank you! Definitely makes sense- I can’t wait to try this out🐾 Hardly any turkeys, no rabbits/ too many predators. Will be fun after deer season to have another activity

I don't agree with this method, totally inhumane. Why must the animal suffer. There must be other ways of controlling them.

Thank you for your comment! Everyone is has their own opinions. I encourage you to watch our videos as there are several instances where I set the trap off on my own hand to show it’s not a device designed to injure. These traps when used properly do not injure the captured animal in any way, they are merely a set of handcuffs that will hold an animal in place. Foxes and Bobcats are released all the time when caught outside of season dates and are uninjured.
