Hey, I still have the Sky Q Hub (ER115) from 2019. Am i entitled to this router upgrade free of charge?

You will be able to use your existing Sky Q Hub but you may be sent a new router. You may ask them when ordering about using your existing router instead of the new router being sent out

the "green wire" as you call it is not a wire its a glass fibre tube in a PVC sheath

Is this Ultrafast Fibre 1 or something below or the Ultrafast Plus? I've recently moved into a block that has flats so I live in one of them as a tenant and a few here have fibre so I know that I can get fibre here and Sky confirmed it for me. The only problem is the tenant before me didn't have broadband I believe or didn't get a new outlet for a wire to be plugged into the recent Sky broadband router. They've said they'll be coming out to install a box outside my flat but I don't know how they'll get it set up or if I'll get the average download speed which is around 145mbp/s. Do you know a link or anyone that has videos on this specific package please? Also, great video.

I apologise for the late response, comments have not been coming through. The service so far has been perfect, I use it mainly for Xbox Live so the speed varies depending on the game that is downloading. I'm not too sure if it is permitted for a flat as you may need prior permission from the landlord. You will need to check the requirements for where you are before proceeding.

The router will be delivered approximately 1 week before your activation date. The engineer will install the necessary cabling hopefully on the activation date to insure everything is working properly or 2-3 days before. This will all be arranged with you beforehand. Your phone will be through the Internet instead of the landline so if Internet goes down, you will not have a working home phone. Hope this helps. And thank you for the sub. @@the1poundgamer thank you for replying, I shouldn't have a problem with a landlord as the flat I'm in and the others is run by a manager so it's up to the mangers decision. Also if the box is already outside my flat then the next tenant that comes along may also get to use that if they use Sky broadband as well from what I think. As for the delivery I have the Sky app and says the router will be delivered but isn't giving me a specific date yet. So I'll see what will happen. I also use Xbox and I'm looking to get back into streaming again so hopefully the speeds I may get will be enough to run at 1080p or possibly the next setting up as I'm currently using my mobile hotspot with Smarty and getting download speeds around 20-40 and upload speeds of around 7-15 depending on the time of day and weather. But the weather in Wales is not the best tbh. One minute it may be scorching hot than the next there's sleet. 🤣

I apologise for the late response, the application stopped working right. Has the issue been resolved? If not, a hard reset may fix the issue by unplugging the router from the power.

I have super fast broadband from sky and I’m only getting max 15gbps I’m a gamer online no problem but it takes over 24 hours to a game any tips on where to place my router as I live in a studio apartment. 😊😊

Sorry for the late reply. Have your router in an open area as far away from other wireless electricals like radios or like a microwave. Anything metal near the router can interrupt signals. If you contact SKY and say your Internet drops out or wifi can't reach parts of the house, you can get free boosters from them. I use a mesh system due to 0 signal in 3 rooms.

Apologies for the late reply. You should have had an Open Reach engineer fit the fibre box outside your house approximately 2 weeks before activation and hopefully on the day of activation a Sky engineer should fit the little box inside. If this had not happened and your activation date has passed, you will need to contact Sky to report the issue.

Depending on which band your devices are using, either the 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz will depend on the amount of devices you can use at the same time before noticeable slow down occurs. Large downloads like on a games console can slow down the speeds but rarely noticeable. I hope this has helped.

How long have you had the router? You may need to power cycle the router by unplugging the router from the wall for 30 seconds and then plugging back in. There is something known as "dirty data" on which can back up essentially the routers memory. This will clear it and should restore the functionality.

All landline phones will work with the router as it is just the phone cable that will plug in to the back instead off in to the wall. You will still be able to use your iDect phone without any problems.

Your video shows nothing except an uneducated view of how to use ethernet and wifi. I'm confused of that to the point I can't understand what the mad rambling on this video was about, except making older people more confused about internet connections. Best thing to do is use ethernet switches then find a way to run them under floors and down the walls. I live in an old building with thick walls, so I chose to use ethernet cable to each room, then a reasonably priced ethernet switch in each room.
