I can't express how awesome this is. I purchased a device that does the same thing and it's awesome except for the fact that I own the one phone that seems to give it trouble (Pixel 6 Pro), it works for every other device and not just Smart phones and tablets either but there's a hardware limiter function for so called "dumb" devices. This, however, seems much more reliable for my device anyway. Also, I'm happy to report that despite being over 2 years old, that as of December 2022, the instructions provided are still good and will result in success. I am using a Wyze Smart Plug (the "old" one, without Bluetooth for establishing the initial connection) and it works flawlessly/instantly. I was a little worried because some IFTTT applets have been iffy for me but not so here. One change since this video was made, despite many undesirable and unpopular changes made by IFTTT in the past 2+ years, one positive change is they allow for 5 created applets instead of 3, which was perfect for me because I had 3 already made plus the one highlighted in the video. For the 5th, I essentially just repeated the entire process (w/ MacroDroid, as well. You can clone MacroDroid macros FYI) but changed OFF to ON and 81% (75% in my case or whatever you decided to go with for your maximum threshold) to 25% then simply changed "Power Disconnected" to "Power Connected" for the "clear notification" macro. On the IFTTT side, it was also a very minor tweak; for the "turn plug off" applet, I used "Maximum" as the keyword and for the "turn plug on" applet, I used "Minimum"... I think my applets are actually published, so if you're using a Wyze brand Smart Plug, I think you can search by either the title or the following IDs ID rQ6t9ZY3 & ID QHfkXYK2 (see screenshots linked below if you want to search by title) Also, I barely changed anything from what is expertly documented in the video but for those that like to be extra sure and/or are visual learners, I took a bunch of screenshots that you can check out if you'd like: d.kuku.lu/7802528b8 All credit, kudos and gratitude to Tech Notebook for the idea and framework/template that couldn't have been easier to tweak / tailor to my preference, namely that it would auto kick back on at a preconfigured low end threshold

Thanks. I'll have to try this because Battery Charge Limit app has never actually stopped my device from charging and the developer hasn't updated that app in 5 years. Rooted Pixel 6 Pro

I'd like to do this to work with my S10e, and Anker wireless charger (with wall charger) and Macrodroid (or not): 1. Find a bluetooth smartplug. Difficult! I do NOT want wifi, must be locally controlled by app. 2. When placing phone on charger (already on), it will charge up to 80%. 3. App notifies plug to go OFF. 4. When I lift phone from charger, app notifies plug to go ON, ready for next time. I've tried to find #1 but only Sengled seems to be available. Unfortunately, I don't see how to use their app with Macrodroid. Sengled says their app canwork with IFTTT but I'd like to avoid that. Finally, there's another option called the Charlie charger. It's a USB device placed between the charger and phone's cable. I can try that but I need a new wireless charger with a USB cord - my Anker has a wall charger! However, the Charlie cost $40, hard to justify that for a $200 phone.
@pauledward94412 жыл бұрын
are you sure you don't mean Chargie instead of Charlie?? bc it sounds exactly the same. I can't speak at all for a Charlie charger but where Chargie devices are concerned, I own 3 and they're great and work flawlessly with 90% of the devices I've attempted to use them with however the 10% where functionality is iffy happens to be almost entirely represented by my daily drive/primary phone. Apparently this is not just an issue with this device either but pixel phones and presumably Nexus devices before them how giving developers fits for years as they don't seem to play by the rules that other stock AOSP devices seem to play by. Anyway, despite the fact that I found this and plan on using it with my main device, which will in all probability put two out of the three Chargie devices out of commission for the time being, I would still absolutely make the purchase again, as they work for as long as you have them, provided you don't break them or lose them and they will extend the lifespan of any lithium-ion powered device (which currently & for the foreseeable future equates to any and every battery operated device you might own or think about owning) not just smart devices capable of running an app. IMO, they're an invaluable tool for any Gadget geek/tech nerd
@pauledward94412 жыл бұрын
PS I believe the new/post-2021 Wyze smart plug is Bluetooth enabled. At least for the initial pairing process. I can't say for sure though because I have the old model that lacks Bluetooth but I know that the new model has Bluetooth in some capacity, so if that's important, you might check that out

same here i got a s10e, but you can activate the Power Saving option, which will stop charger when reaches 85%, since UI 4.1 version firmware.
@nikolaj192 Жыл бұрын
Worked exactly as it should. Made a second trigger with a decrease 20% then notify Charger on with the opposite constraints and a second clear notification. so it turns on until it charges to 80%, then turns off then turns on again when the charge decreases to 20%. Thank you, you are a battery saver.

@pauledward94412 жыл бұрын
Yeah because God forbid you should have to spend ≈$10-15 in order to get another several years tacked on to your phones life expectancy. Oh that's right, you don't have to do this at all! Of course, the trade-off being that you wouldn't reap the benefits of sustained proper battery maintenance and you'd ultimately need to buy a new device anywhere from 1 to 3 years sooner than you would otherwise... I'm no math scientist, but by my calculations, objecting to spending $10-15 in order to save anywhere from several hundred to well over $1,000 depending on whether you go for budget devices or a tippy-top tier flagship (the Pros, Ultras, etc) or anywhere in between. Even at the budget end of the spectrum, that kind of logic doesn't add up
