Setting up a controller in PicaSim

Took me less than two mins to setup (Taranis) and I am now flying and making my mistakes before the real thing arrives next week ! Awesome! Thumbs Up Dude !

please note how you have connected your transmitter to the pc and that would help a lot of people. Maybe I missed it but cannot tell if you are connected by USB or some other cable.

Sorry - yes it's connected by USB, in this case using the interface from MileHighWings. For almost all transmitters you'll need an interface (the one exception I know about is the FrSky Taranis+ which you can connect direct).

It's early days, but a friend of mine has reported that he's got it running under wine (Ubuntu 8.04 with nvidia gfx card) :) He thinks the frame rate is a little slower than under windows, but I'm not sure how significant that is.

That sounds interesting, Yesterday i bought a stupidly cheap sim called Easyfly 3 from my LMS £7.99 (special offer) complete with gamepad type controller. And it worker straight away under wine. It's not too bad, reminds me of Re-Volt, so at least it's giving me some idea of the sticks. But some better realism would be great. I'll give Picasim a go if I can. Cheers. :¬)

I seem to be having a problem using your program with new real flight 8 controler. Is there something I'm missing or are they not conpattable?

My recollection is that the old RF controller will only work with RF - I assume that's the same for the new version too.

Jasper Trulson Because at the moment that setting is only shown if a joystick is detected. That's caused quite a lot of (understandable!) confusion, so the next version will always show the joystick setting page (on Android and Windows), with a message about plugging in a joystick if one is not detected.

Just go through the Joystick tab in the settings again. For each button (e.g. "press when left or down") move the relevant stick accordingly, and press the button. This calibrates the range and direction of stick travel. Also see: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fp-wYYx6m7t0qNU
