I set up an exhibition at www.pova.fi/. My work is there till October 9th. In this video, I go through some of my considerations, talk about the exhibition, and show some of my work.

Wonderful and moving photographs of your father, I really enjoyed seeing them. Shame I was viewing them backlit, maybe one day I'll see them in reflected light. I very much enjoyed your musings as always; I find you very inspiring and uplifting - thank you :)

Thanks for sharing your personal story and congratulations on your exhibition. By the way, you would be in heaven if you visited Japan, there are more than 100 exhibitions every month in Tokyo! So many talented, often young creative photographers here and many of then shoot film. In Japan, there wasn't ever a film resurgence, film photography has always been taught in the art schools and has never gone away, it's a way of life here. Thanks again for sharing your experience...

I follow so many Japanese photographers!! There is something in water there because so many talented photographers come out of Japan!! :-)

I appreciate how you said that you didn't want to exploit your father's condition. Folks who do that don't stop or-care -to think about how THEY'D feel if they didn't have the capacity to understand that they were being portrayed in an unflattering way.

Yeah -- there is that, and then also from an "artistic point of view", I feel that would have been lowering standards, cheap .......

What a wonderful visit and moving story! And congrats to your own exhibition! 👏 I can totally relate to what you shared about your father. My 89 years old dad became my favorite subject when I decided improving my portrait photography by taking workshops with the amazing Argentine photographer Adolfo Rozenfeld last year in fall, just in when the 2nd wave of the pandemic was hitting Germany where we Iive. I owe my dad, being a photographer himself, that he made me discover the magic of photography from very early on and is still sharing his darkroom secrets with me today. I am thankful for his love, patience and generosity and I see that in the pictures I took from him. Thank you so much for sharing his story and all the best for your family!

Nice! I've previously wanted to comment that I think you are so lucky you can still take pics of your dad. I lost mine in 2002 and we didn't have many photos of him. I made sure we didn't repeat the mistake with mom and I kinda drove her crazy but now that she's gone too, I'm so glad I did. In my case, they wouldn't like it if I put their pictures up for public display. Great galley theme though.

Yeah. These are delicate things. You don’t want to exploit anybody. And that’s why I really wanted to make this exhibition about my dad - not so much about his illness. And yes, I’m so lucky he is still around :-)

I wish i could have been there for this. My mother's alzheimers took her mind many years ago where she can no lo ger communicate with anyone except with facial expressions. But yet her body is so healthy for her age.

That is a difficult question. Do you have somebody you trust -- for a second opinion?
