Vasili, that bed of yours is in shade for part of the day. I know sun for 8-10 hours on the plants is best, but in spring and summer how many hours is a minimum of sunshine? My yard isn’t big enough to have sun on all parts of the garden all day.
@brucejensen30814 күн бұрын
It depends on the plant, many don't need any direct sunlight.

Most of my beds are protected in some ways by fruit trees etc or partially shading. Im in western sydney so i kinda need that shade in the hot summers

Don't forget the worms! Throw a handful of compost worms in each bed, little engineers they are.

mixing straw & soil = your not concerned with possible nitrogen draw down ?

Interesting question. Also wouldn't he be better sprinkling blood and bone on the straw, but he doesn't seem to use it. Don't know why. Maybe cause heavy metals get stored in bone, but there would only be trace amounts
@martinbrown83854 күн бұрын
@@brucejensen3081 there can be many problems with using blood & bone like as you point out heavy metals , also not great if your dogs find the bag & get into it & eat , better to add lucerne ( alfalfa ) imo , much more beneficial to soil life , as far as the bean straw go's it's a little tricky , you have Straw & you have Hay , i was taught straw like Barley straw is full of lignin & devoid of nutrients , the barley grows gathers nutrients to produce seed , by the time harvest comes all nutrients in the plant have been used to produce the seed leaving stalks of lignin , which is great for malch & feeding fungi in the soil or to use as bedding for animals , Hay is harvested once the plant has gather all the nutrients but before the seed is produced , so it can be used as fertilizer for plants as a mulch or more commonly used as feed for animals , so is the bean straw a Straw or is it Hay ? if you were to mix lots of barley straw into soil there def could be a problem with nitrogen draw down like wood chip can cause , if you were to mix lots of lucerne into soil you could have nitrogen toxicity , we are now back to the question is bean straw a Straw or is it Hay ???
@tiller_gorilla72204 күн бұрын
It is bean straw. You can also use pea straw. If youve been listening and watching for a while youll understand more. Vasili also states its soaked in the eco booch and liquid gold he also has his superfood and blackgrit in there.ill stand by his products.feed the soil youll feed the plants.trust me ive taken my fruit trees from producing just enough fruit for our family to now producing enough fruit to share around to 5 other houses in the street since ive starting using his products.and you can tell his products are proper by when you pull the roots up theres soil attached to the roots.the roots dont come up clean. He scientifically tests his soil.both him and craig castree another bloke you can learn from.

@@martinbrown8385 carbon to nitrogen ratio of lucerne is 25:1, which is ideal and not too much nitrogen. Blood and bone has plenty of minerals and nitrogen is slowly released over time. Good for deterring bloody rabbits too. Has benefits

@@martinbrown8385 maybe he should just tip a 10 litre bucket of piss on the straw
