Fantastic tutorial! To keep OBS and Zoom from covering each other when you click on them, you can detach panes from OBS (such as the Scenes list) by dragging their top bar, and resizing and moving them out of the way of the Zoom window. Then you can slide most of the main OBS window off-screen so it won't block anything if it comes to the front when you choose a scene.

You've got great explanatory skills.I agree that it's simplest to avoid having to 'Share Screen' in Zoom; possible solutions in addition to asking participants to switch to/stay in Speaker mode: 1) Mention it in the pre-webinar notice (email, etc.) when you send the Zoom connection details; 2) In your pre-meeting 'waiting' scene, have a note about this.

Hi Cat, I will be Art Classes from my Home Studio via Zoom, starting on the 26th of January. I have been working - trying to get the equipment I need, in order to do this in a professional and hopefully - stress free way! Oh boy, did I bit off a lot to chew! I am not illiterate with the Computer, but I am suddenly feeling LOST at all that I need to do, hook up, program, etc. I just have been watching your programs and right away, I knew I had to have the Stream Deck. I know I will need things to flow smoothly so with all that I have to do with the class, this seemed like a good purchase. I unfortunately, do not have a good Camera to use - I thought I could use my Nikon D5600 - but it cuts off at 30 mins. My class will run for 3 hours a week - so for now, I have 2 webcams and my iPhone. I am going to use the FaceCam for the Overhead Painting Camera, the BRIO for the Overhead Palette Camera and for the Camera for me - well, I guess the Brio, I am not sure. I have the two Overhead Setups from Glide Gear to fit over the Artwork and the Paint Palettes/Mixing Area. I will use another set up when I have to Paint at the Easel. I am overwhelmed to say the least. I want it to be a positive experience for my Students, as I am teaching this through an Art Center where I have taught in-person before. If you can give me ANY TIPS, I would really appreciate it - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! lol! I bought two Microphones, a Lavalier for when I am at the Computer and one for the Computer area. I need clarity on something and I have a question about using the Virtual Cam. Do you manually change the scenes while you are sitting there, talking? Or is this something that you do "Run" through Steam Deck, are these portions Pre-recorded and then played? Or, do you create them using a Scene length timer, recorded flow that just runs once you start it? (Like when you make an iMovie)?? I love watching you - Always - you are great at presenting the Material and so thorough! God Bless you - Thank you! - Julia

I'm on a Mac and for some reason virtual camera, despite being on, doesn't appear as a source on any apps. Am I missing something? Great series of videos, by the way.
@PaulMcCannWebBuilder3 жыл бұрын
It's worth noting that when you use video on Zoom (as with the virtual camera) you are sending a high frame rate, but lower resolution (720 for most people unless you pay more and beg for 1080). So don't expect people to read fine print in your on-video graphics during a call. Conversely when using Zoom's screen sharing you get higher resolution, but slower frame rate, so that's best for showing documents or fine detail, like the tiny labels on settings in an application.

Thank you so much ! I am new in Ecamm... Until now I used just Zoom meeting with my classes but it was not so fun, so I decide to use Ecamm. I wanted to know how I can share my PowerPoint doc with Ecamm and Zoom ? Thanks again !
@CatMulvihill3 жыл бұрын
Hi Corinne, You will want to have your slides in Ecamm, then bring Ecamm into Zoom using the Virtual Camera. You can either share the slides using the screen share option in Ecamm, or bring the slides in as a camera using software (e.g. NDI Scan Converter, which is free), or bring the slides from another device. I have a video on how to do that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKLWcqqXj6msi9E

Cat, Thank you for the tips on OBS+Zoom. I have been learning a lot from your videos. I have one question though - are you using a Macbook Pro for these online webinars (via OBS)? What kind of system do you need to be able to handle OBS with Zoom? I find that while my Zoom calls are smooth, the video often lags when I go via OBS. Any insight?
@CatMulvihill3 жыл бұрын
I am using a 2019 iMac to run my Zoom meeting with Ecamm (I've used OBS, too, but I typically use Ecamm). It was 16GB RAM, but I doubled it to 32GB RAM. When I used my MacBook Pro (8GB RAM), I did find it struggled to handle running both. Something you will definitely want to do is close any program not required, and then start with simple graphics. If you have a tablet or second computer, you can offload some processing there.
@JohnPaulraj3 жыл бұрын
@@CatMulvihill Thank you! I downloaded the trial version of Ecamm - and I love it! And thank you for the description of your gear. Yes, I am running all of this on a dual core i5, 8 GB ram - that, is probably not a good idea, when I also need to run OneNote, TI software (texas instruments graphing calculator), and youtube videos etc for my webinars . (I am a math teacher, and I do webinars for math teachers). So, it was really wonderful to see the quality and brilliance of your webinars - thank you so much for all your videos - I have learned so much from you already. @CatMulvihill2 жыл бұрын
The Zoom resolution is a drag. If you have a paid Zoom account, definitely email technical support asking for HD. They should give you 720 for the Professional account, and 1080 for Business & Education. Otherwise, I suggest sharing from a second monitor with your production (kzbin.info/www/bejne/o4PUgnWAab-BndU) or using a Zoom room device to increase the resolution (kzbin.info/www/bejne/eHXUfZVojM6mZ9U).
