I live in Pensacola FL and the dirt is crazy good! I have St. Augustine grass and was digging up an area to make a good sized flower bed. I have well over a thousand worms and some are Huge. So I started a worm farm. My worms are twice as big. Wish I could show you. A few freaked me out. Thanks for the video.

I am just now seeing your worm video from 2023. I so feel your allergies. I have been able to clear my allergies by using lavender, lemon, and peppermint, essential oils, equal parts of each in an Amber dropper bottle or roller bottle.

I dont have any worm farms but when l chop down a banana plant to remove a bunch of bananas, l found out, earth worms love, moving into the remaining trunk, especially when the weather is hot and dry and reproduce like a time bomb.

It's the worm chow that's fattening them up, they're basically corn fed...that will fatten up any grain eating animal.

The worm chow I make isn’t only corn, I add other things that are nutritious. Worms do fatten up with chow but when I feed kitchen scraps they also fatten up. It’s the moisture that does it.

I'm leaving you feedback re the grinding chow video because I'm having difficulty posting for some reason. The sound on that video is very very low, even whe l use my Bluetooth speaker! Have you experimented with temperatures at all? Many animals grow larger in cooler climates, maybe it could affect worms similarly...

The worms in my experience, slow down in the cooler weather’s, but they are definitely easier to ship in the fall and winter and very early spring. It’s rough on them in the summer. That’s why I usually don’t ship in the summer.

I didn’t have a grinder for many years. I would just sprinkle it on and hope for the best. I think when it gets wet and the worm starts working through it it pretty much disappears after a while. My grinder is an upgraded one that I planned on getting for a long time. It wasn’t cheap but for my operation it’s worth it. At the same time when I don’t feel like pulling it out I just sprinkle it on without grinding it😂

When I harvest the breeders, and I reset them, I give them fresh bedding. Sometimes I’ll add additional fresh bedding to the cocoons. Depends how much is in there. When the babies hatch a move to the other wall, I do see what their bedding is like, and I have added fresh bedding. Depends most commercial worms farmers will reuse the bedding two or three times.

I am confused about worm varieties here in europe the main worm used commercialy for bait worms for fishing is the Dendrobaena worm,as far as i know this worms natural habitat is on the forest floors and lives and eats the top layers of leaves that lie on the ground and they are a top layer worm they do not burrow much below the surface.We also have red worms and tiger worms that are similar but they are found in manure piles and rotting vegetable matter in garden compost heaps, this variety are not really farmed as bait worms but are sometimes used by vermicomposting growers gardeners.So are your european night crawlers dendrobaenas? i think in the USA the redworms are called red wrigglers there seems to be different names for the worms than those used in europe.

I took a quarter of one of those mosquito dunk rings, and I just soak it in the water. I use the water and when it runs out I keep refilling it eventually the mosquito dunk will dissolve and disappear.

We have winters here. Last year I had 15 Below Zero. But my worms are indoors and the room gets down to about 65.

With good moisture and proper feeding usually about eight weeks maybe 10. Also depends on the temperature in the bedding.

I've just started a worm bin (red wigglers) for compost for my garden. I don't want to do multiple bins. Should I remove the largest one to encourage propagation?

Yes when the bin is to populated they self regulate and they won’t reproduce as much

Thanks for this. I’ve just started getting into worms and I adore my Euros!!! I’m purchased everything for this bedding and for the chow today. I’ll be mixing up both today and putting 1/2 my Euros in this mix tomorrow and we will see how they do. I’ll be feeding my wigglers the mix you make using alfalfa pellets, peat moss, chicken layer mesh, etc to supplement our kitchen scraps too. I may spout those guys too and start a breeder bin. A local small business sporting good store told me they would buy any extra large Euros and wigglers! Hopefully I’ll have enough of both by next spring. I love your channel. I’ve never been a KZbin watcher but you’ve got me hooked! Quick question…what would be a fair price to sell a 25 pack of wigglers and 20 pack of Euros? I can’t find anything online with information regarding wiggler and Euro pricing in small amounts.

I sifted this bin yesterday since these guys later so many cocoons and I wanted to start a cocoon bin. I stopped counting at 400, that was about 1/2 way through! Not only did they get huge, they made plenty of cocoons. There were also 5 little guys that I put back into the bin. That one bin also gave me about 1lb of casting! Couldn’t believe how quick they grew and produced. Next week I’ll be sifting my breeder bin. We will see which one produced more cocoons! Thanks again, you’ve really helped me to get things going! Can’t wait to see what I have next spring when fishing season comes around.

Straw is natural and they take longer to process it. With this many trees as I have I’m not having to make up new trees with new bearings as often as I would if it was pure peat moss

No not babies more like teens, you put them in grow up and once you see the clitellum to make them in the grow out bin and get fat. Then they go for sale. I have finally perfected my chow

Most people buy the euros for fishing, but I have people buy the little ones for lake fishing. Both forms are also sold through the winter. Some people buy them for fishing in the south and some people buy them for composting. Since people are cooking more at home now they need the worms to compost all the scraps

What were the steps you took to make connections with ppl to sell your worms? Whats an average income you make from this?

The best connections I have on my website, My honesty, being realistic and telling the truth in my videos, I have a lot of people asking me questions and I always answer, I film my successes and I also film my mistakes, and all of that is spread by word of mouth. I’ve made connections with other worm farmers that are honest and other worm farmers that aren’t. The way I see it is if I can lay my head down at night to sleep then I’m doing OK. As far as income like any business at all depends what you put into it. Obviously the more worms you have the more sales you’ll have. All the big worm farms that I know have outdoor windroves. I’m working my way to that but you see my business is debt-free and I don’t want to invest if I don’t have it right now. For now I am investing indoors because honestly raising them inside in the environment that I can control the weather is less problems. Uncle Jim’s worm farms makes millions, honestly I’m one of the little guys😂 I just started selling them towards the end of last year. I’ve been raising them for 20 years but I have also raised four children, took care of my husband and I always had jobs. So now I’m building up the business slowly and I really love it so much. Do your research, be careful who you buy worms from or investing especially red wigglers. I personally only know one other worm farmer that has pure stock like mine. We started out with the 5 gal. bucket system, but are not happy with the results. We bought 100 worms (not from you, unfortunately... ) After 4 months, we ended up with only 49 adult worms, with lots of babies and cocoons. We used 1" pieces of soaked cardboard, whole leaves, shredded paper, and coco coir. We didn't mix it up, but layered it. Your system seems to be working great, and we want to switch over to tubs. Can you tell me how old your huge euros are? If we added coco coir to this bedding, do we have to add lime? Can you tell us the size of your gray bins, and the black ones? And where do you get them? When I had a natural ingredients like you have, I usually mix it up. Worms produce more cocoons in my experience when I raise them and Peat Moss. I have raised them in coconut coir, and I love working with that stuff but I don’t get as many cocoons. I’m not sure the age of the euros because I have them for so long. It shouldn't bother the plants. Once the worms have digested the paper - any carcinogens should be removed - that is also true for pesticides that might be on food you are giving to the worms. Don't worry. Office paper is widely used in the worm scene :) Happy worming !
