It’s so cute when she loses her balance and teeters a little bit! Pickett is a perfect name!!! My new baby rat boys are Willow and Hazel(nut)! They’re nicknames are Willy and Newt (Scamander) ;) I’m curious why not a rectangle tank like for fish or reptiles?
@Emiology6 жыл бұрын
I think those could work too, you'd have to get a specially made lid with really fine mesh, and make sure that it was tall enough. I'll probably get a really large tank in the future and have multiple leaf insects in one, but personally the reason I didn't go for a glass one was because I'll be moving a couple of times this year so can't have anything I might smash!
@mori90183 жыл бұрын
I would think because they need taller and not wider enclosures!! They like to be in trees so they will want to be high up or at least feel high up!

I could probably make a video on this in the future - but males can fly and have much more slender bodies than females!

Hello! I received leaf insect eggs in August, but I forgot to humidify them while on vacation in the summer. I haven't even humidified them since, because I think they're probably dead. But I thought I would ask if there is still a chance for them to live. If I start humidifying them again, will they still hatch?

Gosh he's cute, do you think a mouse is a good pet for someone who who is more experienced with larger animals such as snakes and rats ( pet rats not feeder). They are quite small so im not sure ❤️
@Emiology6 жыл бұрын
I've found mice to be a very different experience than owning rats, because rats are larger you don't have to be as careful with handling them, but if you've ever had a hamster they're on the same handling level i'd say, you have to be very careful with them because they're so small and then can be very quick sometimes. If you have a lot of experience with other animals though I think you'd be fine to own a mouse! ❤️
@sydneytaylor81286 жыл бұрын
You should probably look into their personalities and do research yourself. Mice tend to be a bit more flighty than rats, especially groups of females. I would reccomend one male to start (since females MUST live together and males MUST live alone.) The gender won't 100% guaruntee their personality but since males live alone they tend to want more human interaction as opposed to females who will be happy to socialize within their group rather than with you. (Again, every mouse is different. You can get really antisocial males and super lovey females. But males on average tend to be more social than groups of females.) They're quite small, even more than a roborovski hamster, and are very delicate! Like rats they love to climb but you should focus on floorspace as well as height. A few people will say that 200 square inches is good for mice but most people disagree and reccomend at least 360 square inches. The only time I'd say you really should use a 10 gallon tank is if your mouse is elderly and doesn't use very much space anyway. There's so much more to their care though, and if you're very interested I could reccomend looking at some reputable mouse forums and KZbinrs (I personally reccomend Anna's Animals!)

Is it legal to keep bugs as pets as they dont need human care and they dont like to socialise with humans like rats hamster dogs and cats so you would just be keeping it for your own entertainment . Im just asking because i dont know much xx
@Emiology6 жыл бұрын
Yes it's legal, they still require my care in terms of providing food and cleaning out. It's the same as how many people keep reptiles, they don't desire your attention in the way social animals would but we still keep them
@sniazy72006 жыл бұрын

@Emiology6 жыл бұрын
You want to make sure the majority of the plants in there are the ones they're going to eat (eg. Bramble) if you had a huge enclosure you could potentially put fake plants in there for them to climb on along with it though ☺️
