I made a 3' guyed stand out of PVC pipe for assembly. I lift it from there onto the mast. MUCH easier that way. Even with the 7 meter mast, I would leave the top section tucked in as with the 10. Both are just not stout enough to extend all sections. The main lobe take-off angle is about 38°, and works great low.

I would love to see a picture of the assembly stand you made. If you have one can you email it to me? K3EE@yahoo.com Also thanks for the advice on the top section.

I have a Buddistick that i bought back in 2014 when they first came out. It has held up extremely well throughout the years. I had a similar situation as you, I found a picnic shelter at a park and set my radio equipment up under the shelter and set my Buddistick up outside of the shelter. I hadn't guy'ed it down yet, I walked back under the shelter to run the feed line to to my radio and a gust of wind blew my Buddistick over and the telescoping upper portion hit the side of the roof of the shelter and snapped in half. I had only had that antenna about 3 or 4 months at that time lol. I was pissed at myself lol. Luckily back then a replacement telescoping portion was only $13 to replace so I got pretty lucky that I didnt cause more damage to it. The Buddihex looks like a really cool antenna, but since its not really made for permanent installation I've been looking at the DX Commander. What is your normal base station antenna? Right now I'm using a CHA EMCOMM II and it has been good enough for me but I'd like something better for DX. Right now I have it setup in an NVIS configuration so I can only make contact a few states away. I'm in Eastern KY -- we'll have to try and get a contact on 20 or 40m ~ Jeremy KF4CHW

My current setup is a EFHW at about 35 feet in an inverted L. It faces almost a true north to south. I also have a random long wire that is tuned to 160 meters. I’m putting up a tower once we finish our remodel on the house. And then I will most likely end up with a hex beam too. And some stand offs for wire or 2meters/ 70cm

I am currently on the waiting list for the BuddiHEX. I am very excited to have an antenna I can put up on a friday night, talk all weekend, and then quickly take down. I have read nothing but great reviews. Question: does anyone know if the BuddiHEX and Mast fits into a "golf bag protector" when flying? It would be idea if it fit.

Sounds great! I love mine and you will love yours. The signal reports I get back are amazing.

This antenna almost needs two people to setup

man it is as close as it gets to needing a second person. I am sure that with time it gets very manageable for 1, But my large scale deployments for multi-day events I will most certainly have help . Thanks for watching! And did you order a pile of HEXBEAMs too or just the masts?
