Setting Up Our Cattle Scale and Weighing Calves For The First Time!

We have had a Tru-Test cattle scale in the shop for a couple years. We expected it to be quite a project to setup, so it kept getting pushed off. We finally took the time to set it up and were pleasantly surprised at how simple it was. After we set it up, we were able to put it to use weighing some weaned calves. All in all we were very pleased with our scale.

Guys I will give you a way out it's much easier to guess cattle weight in the open. Being in the chute you can't see all of the animal

Usually we just guess at the weights and can get fairly close. We are starting to ship some steers out west though and have to be pretty precise with out weights to do this.

I got a Repro Scan. Went well checked 2 loads of 68 took about 45 mins per load

There is better solutions for scales than this, it won't take many to start filling the chute and scale with cow shit and you will have inaccurate weights, it will end up binding between the chute and scale.

How will the weights be inaccurate? It is zeroed out after each animal. We don't leave it in the squeeze chute year round. Just when we use it. Works perfect for us.
