Thanks for uploading this video. There is NOWHERE else to find this information. It's a damn shame that Gibson bought Steinberger. They are the black death touch to everything they acquire. I'm not a fan of Fender guitars but as a company they really let the brands they acquire branch out and be successful. I wonder if it's feasible for a group of ZT3 owners to pool together and commission a limited run manufacture of all common (or just all) parts for this awesome device?

So true. It's a shame Gibson has really turned into a demon from hell. They used to be great and then when they were bought they started going downhill. HERITAGE Guitars is the real Gibson today.

Buyer Beware. These guitars are so cool. It's a crying shame that the ZT3 no longer has parts available so anyone with this guitar is out of luck if they need replacement springs, thumbscrews, trem arms, etc. Don't buy a ZT3, or any guitar with a TransTrem 3 until Gibson decides to provide parts so dealers can repair and work on these instruments. Don't be fooled...if you want a Steinberger, go pay the huge bucks for an original refurbished USA model so you can get parts. The ZT3 guitar may cost a little less, but it'll be a boat anchor if you need any service whatsoever. Ned, please fix this with Gibson.

@@NickTheSickDick Yep. I called them and they acted like complete snobs. I said I owned a ZT3 and the guy smuggishly said, "I'm so sorry to hear that." I almost hung up. He said they weren't made in America. I said, "What does that have to do with anything? Do you have a trem arm for me or not?" They said they had no parts for them. They don't have ZT3 parts, and they'll treat you like you're sub-human if you defile their eardrums with the words "Synapse" or ZT3. I'll build my own before I use those guys. Ed Roman Guitars all the way. Great service, no smuggish distain.

By the way, I did get a trem arm for my ZT3 from a super cool guy in Germany named Bernd Meissner. Here's his email. be.em@headless-europe.eu and site: www.headless-europe.eu/Bernds_Guitar_Pages/Parts_3.html

@@NickTheSickDick I should also say that I have a houseful of the highest-end guitars a lifetime of playing can by. Several tens of thousands of dollars worth. My ZT3 is one of the coolest guitars I have, at any price. It's a little beast. I hope Ned and Gibson create another high-end Steinberger like the ZT3, regardless of where they make them. Mine is phenomenal, and I absolutely love gigging with it. Great guitars come from all over the word now (as well as crappy ones). It's useless, as a musician, to cling to the country of origin as the key motivator in buying an instrument. Musicians make music...choose the best tool. Eastman (China) has filled orchestra pits across the globe with some if the finest stringed instruments available today. Make music, not politics.

I have one of these but I lost the Allen wrenches that came with it. I have a bunch but I would prefer to put the 2 proper sizes back into the "tool compartment" on the guitar. I see 2 holes for them but how do they stay in without falling out? If one unscrews the "cover" you can't stuff the Allens into the holes as the bent parts don't fit under the cover. If you stick them into the holes on the cap they would fall out. Are they the traditional ones with the bend in them on one end? TIA.

The allen wrench holder assembly has 2 grub screws to adjust the "hold force" of each allen key. Check the owner´s manual for more info: www.manualslib.com/manual/323862/Steinberger-Zt3.html

@@alcobb617 Thanks for the reply, Al. I had that PDF but there is no detail about the Tool Holder. I played around with it and I think the allen keys just poke into the outer hols of the circular cap and somehow are held by tension. When I pull a key out the "button slides around to another position. Perhaps the only thing I was missing was the 2 allen keys. "The "grub screws" must be inside the holes in the body of the guitar as I don't see any other screw except for the center screw holding the button in.

@@gregdavidson5898 You have to remove the whole wrench holder. You'll see the grub screws on top-side.

Technically there's a couple of spring loaded ball bearings in the wrench holder, they depress when you insert the keys and press down on them once in place. As for the keys, I'm sure any Allen key of proper size and caliber would do

If some models had released having a fixed bridge these would be the ultimate guitars.The floating tremolo and it's damned spring brought a bad name to these instruments.

@JeanMarceaux Жыл бұрын
The bridge can be fixed tight with a couple turns of a small hex screw located on the lowest part of the bridge.
