lord no. Most head units send out a clean signal all the way up to full volume. If a head unit goes to 35 tune at 33. If it goes to 40 set it at 38. If you don't know if your HU is clean then get an oscilloscope and find out. Crank your bass knob all the way THEN adjust your gain. If you tune it at half way, any numbnuts thats plays around in your car will be able to turn it up all the way and clip the shit out of your system. Better to be safe than sorry. If you tune it at max then its impossible for anyone to damage your system. And what the hell you setting your subsonic at 35 for? Those are some of the best frequencies. You don't like low bass or something? Me personally I happen to like low bass so I set mine to 20ish.

Why you put your bass knob to half way up and not maximum?
@818bass9 жыл бұрын
Because if done correctly it will be hitting hard at minimum when you turn on ur music. Then as you start to raise to your knob to half way towards your clip zone it will be hitting at its efficient state.. After half way would be distorted music. You get the idea.
@4gbmeans4gb616 жыл бұрын
Because not all music and souces will clip at the same point, so you can turn it up until it does depend on what ur listening too.

Can you turn your bass settings back up on your head unit once you have set it?
@theshark2804 Жыл бұрын
@@rodneyratcliffe7749 I think that will mess you up. You will clip at a lower volume. I personally would turn and bass boost off the set your eq to what you like then set up the knob.

What if the clipping light is on all the time? & not the power green led? I got a 6 wire cord now but with the 4 wire the green led lights up but can't set the clipping gain. Unplug it & everything works fine

That means your amp will cut off any frequencies below that.

@@seansmith4440 @Sean Smith why? it's going to clip at a much earlier volume when you plug your subs in if you do it like that. I don't get why people turn off the eq either. when you plug your subs in and turn the eq back on you're going to clip way way earlier than with no eq and no load(aka subwoofers). Seems like you should set the gain in the same environment that you listen to your music. IDK maybe I'm wrong but I doubt it.

@@Titans2138 I have my subs hooded up and the ddm4a amp gain on half and the clipping light comes on and the bass is not loud.
@Titans21383 жыл бұрын
@@HIGHROLLAZAUTOCLUB if you followed this guys instructions I know exactly what your problem is. I just watched this video again and home boy says set the low pass filter to 100-120. And subsonic to 37hz. This is awful advice. No wonder I wrote another comment that said this video is garbage. The highest your low pass should be is 80hz and I wouldn’t even do that high. Your subsonic should be set to like 25hz at the highest. I set mine at like 22 hz. If you listen to this guy no wonder you’re clipping early and your bass wounds weak. You’re lowering the volume on the most important sub frequencies and then you’re playing higher frequencies than your subwoofer was designed for. If you listen to rap or any kind of electronic music, on DD’s own website they say they played some rap songs and asked people when they started to notice a loss of bass while they slowly turned up the subsonic filter. People noticed a loss of bass around 24 hz on some songs so 37 hz is crazy. I’ve never heard of anyone setting their subsonic that high. Let me know if that fixes it
